ubersync··on Drop the Supersonic Aircraft Ban
Please don't. Think about the environment. Let the industry focus on fuel efficiency rather than speed. If the ban is lifted, a lot of R&D money will go into speed.
ubersync··on Japanese Words That Don't Exist in English
Twerking.
ubersync··on Anal probes are fine, if you've got nothing to hide [pdf]
Like how Brian in Family Guy just barks at black folks.
ubersync··on Google Fiber Phone
It is correct that both parties need this for better quality?
ubersync··on Negative creep
Bitcoin, once more popular and stable, will make it hard for these regressive plans to be implemented.
ubersync··on Amazon's customer service backdoor
If anyone wants to start a fund to sue Amazon for this, I am ready to pitch in a $100.
ubersync··on The big data of bad driving, and how insurers plan to track every turn
But again, thinking about doing something and actually doing it makes all the difference. You do not have 100% control over what your think. Sometimes you think about something and then decide whether to do it it not by predicting the possible outcomes. I swear i have thought about murdering several people, but of course i will never follow through. And I'm sure everybody does that. It's part of our critical thinking. We think of something and then weigh the pros and cons in our mind and then decide what to do.
ubersync··on Tech and Banking Giants Ditch Bitcoin for Their Own Blockchain
This is just a glorified DBMS.
ubersync··on Why Apple Wants to Get into the Unprofitable World of Payments Between Friends
An article on peer-2-peer payments, and not a single mention of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies?
ubersync··on Will your driverless car kill you so others may live?
I think it was more of an example of an imaginary emergency situation. You can hard program the corners, but you can't successfully predict all kinds of emergency situations that may arrive. Another example in that article is better: A rogue motorcyclist just turning blindly in front of you. Maybe, the only two choices are either you run them over, or steer your car off the road.
ubersync··on We ditched Google Analytics
Don't the ad blockers disable Google Analytics by default? If I am not wrong, I think uBlock Origin does.

So, I think, as more and more people will start using ad blockers, site owners will start getting less and less accurate stats from Google Analytics, forcing them to implement their own solutions. Hopefully, open source solutions will start providing the best features that Google does.

ubersync··on When Undercover Credit Card Buys Go Bad
Why are we still using Credit Cards as payment processing? Why can't we have something with a "Push" mechanism, instead of the "Pull" with the CCs.
ubersync··on Use micromorts to fight terrorism
> I too find acts of violence upsetting, but it's dangerous to buy into the propaganda around the word terrorism, since it's used to justify abandoning diplomacy and dehumanizing the enemy.

And it's used to curb the rights of your own citizens.

ubersync··on 2,000% price hike for infant seizure drug called 'absurd'
Yes, but the fact that Martin Shkreli wanted to buy the rights for this drug makes me think there is somewhere a list of potential drugs that can be exploited in this way, and multiple companies are bidding for them.
ubersync··on Cutting a Klein Bottle in Half [video]
I already did. It is awesome. This guy has so much energy.
ubersync··on Cutting a Klein Bottle in Half [video]
How did I not know about Cliff Stoll until today?
ubersync··on Facebook is now scanning your photos to make sure you send them to your friends
That correct. I use the web app as well. It works pretty well.
ubersync··on Facebook is now scanning your photos to make sure you send them to your friends
Ditto. I never installed the messenger app. I would use the facebook app for browsing, and logged into the web app for messages. But then I realized I can do all the stuff in one place, the web app. So I uninstalled the main app as well.
ubersync··on In-N-Out Files Lawsuit Against Food Delivery Startup DoorDash
It could just be my experience, but I have very rarely seen a non-white person working at an In-N-Out.
ubersync··on In-N-Out Files Lawsuit Against Food Delivery Startup DoorDash
> On the other hand, retailers also probably have explicit permission from vendors to resell the good, which DoorDash doesn't.

That's the biggest reason I see. In your case, Kellogg is "allowing" Walmart to resell its products.

ubersync··on Avoid Humans: Your temporary respite from the masses
Exactly. I thought it would give me a list of resorts in remote areas, away from cities, close to wilderness etc. But it just uses Foursquare and Instagram check ins. Who uses Foursquare anymore?
ubersync··on Candy Japan hit with credit card fraud
Unjustified credit card fees and the financial/psychological burden of chargebacks (resulting from uncontrollable credit card fraud) are the main reasons why I want the Bitcoin experiment to succeed. Lets give Bitcoin some love where it deserves.
ubersync··on Candy Japan hit with credit card fraud
Exactly. I hope we will see a world soon, where Bitcoin (or another cryptocurrency) is as ubiquitous as credit cards now.

Transaction fees for a failed credit card payment? Its more than insane.

ubersync··on Dry erase board lined with IR sensors to record pen strokes [video]
Another payment option for #2 and #3 is Bitcoin.
ubersync··on [dead]
This needs international media attention.
ubersync··on Windows 10 uses your bandwidth to send other people updates
Another point to notice is, they are probably doing this to save money on bandwidth, at the cost of the user. Commercial bandwidth connections are usually at a "wholesale" price, and consumer connections are really really expensive. They might be able to save less than a cent for every dollar users lose because of this feature.
ubersync··on Ethereum: what’s about to happen
Ethereum is getting a lot of heat for being "pre-mined". What stops someone from running an alt-ethereum blockchain which is not pre-mined? AKA a non-pre-mined Ethereum fork?
ubersync··on A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, nuclear scientist and former president of India, has died
> The 27th of July should be a national day of recognition for his genius.

Slightly off-topic, but there are already too many "national holidays" in India. Added with the "state holidays", there are barely any workdays left.

ubersync··on Bitcoin Trends in the First Half of 2015
It will never go to 0. I will buy all at 0.001, and I am sure a lot more people are willing to bid more than that. Anyways, will you eat your hat if it ever goes back to 460, or 1000 or 2000?
ubersync··on Bitcoin Trends in the First Half of 2015
That was just a flash crash. It has stayed well about 200 the past 6 months.
