trq01758··on What Every Developer Should Know About GPU Computing (2023)
And if one is using iGPU, one might think I'll have a great bandwidth, but reality is that DDR memory for CPU is optimized for low latency not bandwidth and they'll probably have a 64 bit channel (or 2x32 bits) from a single DDR module or 128 bit in dual channel configuration, while something like RTX 4090 will have onboard graphics-DDR GDDR memory on 384 bit channel very much optimized for bandwidth and not latency pushing according to specs a terabyte per second. Apple really needed their memory architecture - having a high memory bandwidth for onboard GPU to have reasonable performance.
trq01758··on Routine dental X-rays are not backed by evidence
Back in USSR times in the 80s my high school had a room for a dental work. Of course it had a soviet electric motor drill, not any fancy or not so fancy compressed air turbo anything (because it's cheap like some great RBMK reactors which of course cannot fail) and a young visiting dentist to test their skills on kids. I do not have any great memories related to this. But now I'm also thankful that at least there were no resources to have an X-ray machine for some practice.

Not covered, but I can get the shot at nearby pharmacy for 15€.
trq01758··on Why does FM sound better than AM?
It may be impossible for a little speaker to produce any sound at some low frequency, so manufacturers use "virtual pitch" psychoacoustic phenomenon by introducing harmonics above that frequency. There is no low bass, but there will be added harmonics that will be perceived by the listeners as low bass: https://sound.stackexchange.com/questions/37755/how-do-psych... Here's also a project and some info from Asahi devs on Macbook audio: https://github.com/AsahiLinux/asahi-audio

For AC these units use non polarized, oil-filled metallized polypropylene film capacitors. But overheating is a problem for them, as it is for electrolytics.

Those codecs got better with time. Also notebook and little portable speakers, while they are unable to physically reproduce low frequencies are getting better at emulating those. Somebody cares.

And here's (dunno if true as they write in the description - probably the very first stereo) studio turntable from 1958 playing a record from 1988 through Youtube's compression. I did have a lousy vinyl deck with so so speakers when growing up and this impresses me a lot: https://youtu.be/PRty-_eBEpg?si=GsrctxRbkvT3xRAV

Simplicity, it's a modern MOS 6502. Base RISC-V has even less instructions than 6502.

I guess that "properly mounted" may be a problem for a lot of people. According to operating manual measurements should be taken at heart level with 30±5 cm distance between top of the seat and top of the table. Outside of that ±5 cm difference you may get inaccurate results.
