nice marketing, kyso.io team
trpc··on DuckDuckGo Proposes the “Do-Not-Track Act of 2019”
This. Also DDG and Brave are probably the shadiest small tech companies I've seen in many years. They use extensive and aggressive advertising and sneaky marketing techniques with nothing more but attacking big companies using their paid minions (youtubers, bloggers, influencers on reddit an 4chan), ironically the same big companies that their products are built upon. I wonder if a company like Google would ever sue them or that would make these companies a favor because all they need is more exposure as the little fighter who takes on the evil giant and we all know who we should be more sympathetic with when we see a fight between the big evil guy and the little one.
trpc··on DuckDuckGo Proposes the “Do-Not-Track Act of 2019”
They should rename it to "Do-Not-Track-Just-Inject-Ads-Based-On-Keywords" act
trpc··on Golden: Mapping human knowledge
so this is a for profit company that intends to use free labor contributions to exploit search engine SEO rankings and subsequently attract useless millions of daily visits and then you exit it for hundreds of millions a few years from now. It worked before, why wouldn't it work now? there are always enough dumb people who will help you make a fortune for free if you understand tech capitalism and manage to fool them; good luck anyway.
trpc··on Go 1.13: xerrors
because I use it in my day job, not by choice.
trpc··on Go 1.13: xerrors
It seems like golang designers are totally isolated from what's been happening in the last 30 years in languages design. They still insist on their weird way of error handling just like they were stubborn for years and years on the lack of package management and eventually a very weird and rudimentary way of it. It's sad because I use this language extensively but its weirdly mediocre design is totally unfathomable. It's like they are very stubborn to do anything but the right thing.
trpc··on We All Work for Facebook
I agree that reddit is still the fairest social website even after the many changes they did to monetize their services, which isn't wrong btw since it's in the end a business, Quora is now nothing but a big spam and self promotion website but fortunately they don't have the power to force users to stay in their circle of influence like Facebook. ProductHunt doesn't need a comment, it's a shameless cheesy website designed as "pay for shilling" scheme.
trpc··on We All Work for Facebook
The difference is that the vast majority of users are unaware that their content is making other users stay within Facebook as long as possible and feed it with more data to make money for Facebook alone.
trpc··on We All Work for Facebook
At least Google's main revenue, Adsense, is shared with other people. Publishers, websites and apps that voluntarily choose their Ad service.
trpc··on We All Work for Facebook
Not only that, Facebook is designed to lock users inside their services as long as possible. The web, to billions of users now, is simply Facebook. The only way to make people leave Facebook and visit your website or app is to PAY Facebook to promote your page and posts so that users visit your services. It's the biggest carefully designed theft of time and effort of all time. Facebook must be destroyed or at least weakened by the power of governments now or never.

Also most social websites were designed on free labor by users like Quora and Reddit (at least the new corporatist reddit)

trpc··on In 2019, Is YC Worth It?
You guys are too loud for a shitty meme generator website, probably you got the illusion of success and think you're entitled to spam us on HN every couple of days with your fake wisdom

Mark Zuckerberg ruined the internet

trpc··on Otonomo, with nearly $55M in funding, is cloning our product
does this page ever load? I've tried like 5 or 6 times over the course of the last 9 hours and never been able to see what the hell that is all about even with a VPN
trpc··on China Spying on Undersea Internet Cables
much of the internet traffic is served over TLS these days, DPI and such equipment are becoming more and more useless. But hey, up to L4 is still plaintext!
trpc··on How do startups get their content marketing to work?
I think Google these days link the information they get from Google Analytics and their DNS service requests to boost some domains and links over the others.
trpc··on How do startups get their content marketing to work?
I saw with my own eyes people on some freelancer websites requesting 200 ProductHunt upvotes for like 200 US dollars. Getting SEO ranking today on Google is much much harder than it used to be until around 2014-2015, now everything is exponentially harder, Facebook doesn't get you reach until you pay them tons of money to even reach a tiny fraction of your own organic subscribers and they even cause automatic unlikes among your organic subscribers to extort you further, Twitter is less shameless when it comes to extortion for reach but it's not as it used to be 5 years ago. It's really very hard to go viral even with a good product unless you have at least tens of thousands of dollars to throw on direct (i.e. ads and promoted posts) and indirect marketing (e.g. paying blogs, journalists, youtubers, etc... to promote your products)
trpc··on Zuckerberg ousts critical board members, installs loyalist, at Facebook
It's called "Social Fixer for Facebook"
trpc··on Zuckerberg ousts critical board members, installs loyalist, at Facebook
Zuck does whatever the hell he wants to. He knows his baby is too big to fail now. It's like he owns the only cigarette company in the world where people are addicted to it by design. Facebook, a 500 billion dollar company, is nothing actually but a spam website pretending to be a social network. I recently installed a browser extension that hides sponsored posts and found my feed literally empty!

trpc··on You Don't Have to Like Assange to Defend Him
Imagine these comments in pre-Obama era, I remember when the left and liberals considered Assange a hero because he exposed the American right wing government back then, no wonder that the tech industry is so left wing to an unbearable and dishonest degree, just because they lost an election to a TV celebrity that they can't imagine despite controlling the entire media and government, the American people could dare challenge them and elect an outsider even if he's a joke like Trump, it must be a Russian conspiracy! it must be everything except that there are other people with other views, right?! The people can't have a another view when we control everything? how dare they? We must destroy even the heroes we made to make sure the people don't dare and have a choice we don't like again ever!
trpc··on Nassim Talebs case against Nate Silver is bad math
even though I am kinda sarcastic I extremely admire this kind of thinking (assuming that I got him right), many stock traders have this kind of free thinking mentality and disdain for all kinds of rules and authority, George Soros once said that the only reason people read about his philosophy is that he made a few billions, he knew from the very beginning that having enough money would make his ideas worth of being considered for smart people and absolutely right for retarded people. It's like money shifts the truth or something!
trpc··on Nassim Talebs case against Nate Silver is bad math
I really want to be Nassim Taleb, I don't want to get a real job, I don't want to be a slave for any kind of rules or laws whether in corporates, government or academia, I am much bigger than that, I just want to make enough money trading and shorting stocks during an economic bubble and retire young and then set myself emperor of the world and make fun of whoever I don't like such those academics who can't make 6 figure until in their 50s, of course academics are much less smarter than a stock trader, otherwise why couldn't they become rich like Taleb? right?!
trpc··on Show HN: Ethical Resources – 300 ethical alternatives to mainstream stuff
Many projects like this one turned out to be paid by companies like DuckDuckGo and Brave to promote their products, look at their aggressive cheap way of advertising and you will understand
trpc··on A majority of consumers do not expect Google to track their activities
>They record searches

so they record the most important thing a search engine can get from users in order to make profit from ads, true respect for privacy indeed!

trpc··on A majority of consumers do not expect Google to track their activities
>DDG Search is a free competitor to Google Search that doesn't track

prove it please

trpc··on AWS Mesh Generally Available
This is a service mesh like Istio not an API gateway, it's mainly used for automatic and transparent service discovery and load balancing where client and server service endpoints don't have to worry about that, also other features are automatic handling of failure when one server endpoint isn't responding, traffic management, securing communications between services, enforcing L7/L4 kind of a firewall between services, telemetry, etc..., you probably don't want to use a service mesh like this until your software architecture gets really complex
trpc··on AWS Mesh Generally Available
Again, AWS proves to be shamelessly exploitative of others' work and success. This must be a culture there or something.
trpc··on A $230k debt and a LinkedIn message led an ex-CIA officer to spy for China
>He could have spent less to avoid debt

Easier said than done in most cases, not all people are 20 or 30 something above average IQs and can write some app or website and by the end of the year he would raise a couple of million from investors or get a job in some fancy startup, most lives are just pathetic and the need for money can make people do unimaginable things, the guy is 61 years old and he is jobless and in debt

>no excuse for resorting to treason

of course there is no excuse and it's totally a treason, I am just noting that how pathetic life can be

trpc··on A $230k debt and a LinkedIn message led an ex-CIA officer to spy for China
A yet another reason to recognize that life is so pathetic, so here is a guy who spent his entire youth supposedly serving his country (or actually serving his bosses agendas and ambitions?) for peanuts and he is now an old jobless man with thousands of dollars in debt that he has to become a spy to pay off his debt
