No affiliate links and he says he makes money. How is he making money?
tony2016··on Evernote just slashed 54 jobs, or 15 percent of its workforce
I have been using Evernote for years. It's complete for me as far I am concerned. Taking notes and getting synchronized. I am not sure what features they want to add to have tens of software developers. I also don't understand why they have hundreds of employees.

Any links to any of its source code?

.biz .com .blah, why does it matter? You just click on a link and it takes you there.
tony2016··on Why I Stopped Using Multiple Monitors
I don't agree. I maximize all the apps on my monitors. I like to see the max amount of data in each app. The secondary monitor is used to look at help, docs or something useful.

Using a single monitor means I have to position and resize all kinds of windows on it on a regular basis. Very unproductive for me. Eventually the Windows will be too small for my eyesight. This is a highly personal preference with everyone.

There's so much productivity features in VS there's no excuse to invest in a faster machine. Or add more memory. Memory is cheap.

Tim.. in this day and age of broadband and terabyte drives, 50GB file size is a non issue. A 50GB file can be downloaded while I am having lunch, during the day while I am working or overnight and it's available the next time. No rush.

- During the installation, the installer can download the smaller needed updates. SQL Server installation does that.

- A company can download the 50GB file once only and put it on a network drive and the developers can install it from there. It saved bandwidth for the company instead of each dev downloading the same bits over and over.

- What about the machines that are not connected to the Internet? You mentioned there are ways around this.

I am fine with none ISO's but I wanted to post the counterarguments.

There are many refactorings already and if you want more you can invest in Resharper or CodeRush.

Add and remove a component and look at the total in each. The difference is the component's size.
tony2016··on How I built the IMDb message boards, in 2001
I didn't after all these years! They should have made it the default. I mean who prefers to click more than they need to!

The threaded replies model was stupid. If a post had 20 replies, I have to click 20 times. Each click to show one reply. Many of the replies were moronic. I ended up just reading the main posts only.

I used many threaded discussion software. The one IMDb used was the most annoying. I have never seen it used on any other site. I guessed it must have been developed in-house and wondered why they never enhanced it.
