tmugavero··on I assume I'm below average
Inspiring stuff, but I don't think you have to necessarily assume you are below average. You can assume you're great and create this state of mind naturally if you strive to surround yourself with exceptional people. It naturally creates a condition of student / teacher when the people around you are experts. I guess it's just another way of looking at finding motivation to learn. Great reminder regardless.

I disagree. This should absolutely not be an issue in a 4th generation phone.
tmugavero··on Ask HN: How important is location, really?
I think being around large numbers of people exchanging good ideas facilitates innovation faster, but that certainly doesn't mean that there aren't great ideas in rural North Dakota. Passion, inspiration, and motivation are the most important things regardless of where you are, but luck seems to play a bigger part in places like New York or Silicon Valley.

I also think location can be crucial to success for companies like foursquare, where it has the chance of a much faster adoption rate in a large city like New York.

tmugavero··on The real Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates.
If you're comparing the two individuals I think Bill Gates is winning the money game.

I love this. Steve Jobs is a pompous idealistic windbag that needs to stop pushing 5 (or 10) year old hardware onto rabid fans as new and the greatest thing ever. Oh Multitouch! Give me a break. Sure HTML5 is great and I use it for video on my site, but why not support both until all the millions of websites using flash actually convert to HTML5? Android is going to put Flash on phones and that will be a game changer (as if Android isn't already chewing away at the iPhone market). Jobs can be all high and mighty about forcing people to use an unfinished spec that's open, but Android will give you both, and that will matter. Then when everyone knows, uses, and fully supports HTML5 in 10 years, and Flash is dead, they can simply just remove Flash support from Android and be done with it :) </sensationalist_rant>

This seems like a step backwards to me. Why are they even wasting cycles on this when we're obviously heading to a paperless society? Maybe they should make cloud fax services too.
