tmlee··on Show HN: Minified.js – a fully-featured, 4K alternative to jQuery and MooTools
Nice one! i am digging it so far! Gonna try using it in one of my smaller projects to see how it goes.

btw anybody would like to use this in their Rails project, just drop https://github.com/tmlee/minifiedjs-rails into your app for asset pipeline. just did a quick one for that.

tmlee··on Poll: How do you use XCode?
i am still using a 13 inch 2009 mbp. up-ed the RAM to 8gb and it works great with Xcode4!
tmlee··on Ask HN: What is the best HTML5 charting library?
yup documentation is nice.. with clean javascript wrapper and highly customizable
tmlee··on Ask HN: What is the best HTML5 charting library?
this may be something you could use, http://www.highcharts.com/ I like it, it's cross browser compatible!
tmlee··on Ideas For Beginning Web Developers
I agree. Reading books and materials can only take you so far. In my experience, after reading an iOS dev book for countless time, you think you get it, but after a few weeks.. you tend to forget all about them. Eventually, i decided on a project to work on, and when i get stuck, refer to the book and continue working on it until it is done. I think the concept sticks better that way, plus you get a sense of satisfaction of a finished product..
tmlee··on Why I'm Rooting For Google+
That's why Google+ is important. Even if it doesn't take off, at least it keeps the 'check and balance' on Facebook's power in the social space, well with they hype it is getting now. Competition is good!
tmlee··on Previewing Windows 8 (Video)
based on the demo, underlying it is still the same old Windows. At the point where he fired up Microsoft Words, it actually pulls up the usual desktop view. So it is basically adding another layer of Metro UI to adapt to touch devices. But yeah i guess you are right, if that's the only new thing in Win8, then perhaps some may consider sticking to Win7..
tmlee··on Ask HN: What is the point of Chrome's web store?
Chrome Webstore, in the QnA session, it is said that these apps are essentially just web apps that all browsers can view them right?

How does paid app works? If i paid for a webapp/game on the webstore... and some day i have no access to Chrome, am i still able to open that webapp on any browser at all?

tmlee··on My first (quite pointless) Ruby website
So i tried hitting $9999999999999999999, priceless result. It actually quite make sense!
tmlee··on Apple brings App Store to Mac OS X
All the mac users can only hope not.. The fact that they have an app store is that we can see that Jobs is trying to pitch the Mac to the rest of the users as well... normal users wont be able to find apps online, they need a central location to do so. The thing that struck me was that, why is he doing that? Isnt the "iPad" meant to do all that, and leave the Mac as trucks?
tmlee··on Adobe AIR now Available for Android
If i am seeing it correctly. It's probably not that snappy, looking at the RunningMap app he demo-ed?
tmlee··on Ask HN: Are installable webapps feasible/worthwhile?
I think its gonna take some time for this approach to standardize across browsers. Right now, Chrome is offering installable apps solely to allow developers to charge and to allow users instant access to webapps. IE9 beta is doing somewhat the same by having users instant access through pinning webapps onto the taskbar. Safari and Firefox will definitely have some solutions that are likewise. At the very core, your webapp will still be accessible through a url. And if you would like to extend your reach, why not make it as an installable app for Chrome, which just requires some extra manifest files. Unless you want that app to totally be at the client side? I hope i am not interpreting it wrongly.
tmlee··on Ask HN: So, what did you think of the Social Network?
Yeah.. that struck to me too.. i thought Parker was his middle name or something?~
tmlee··on A clever way to fight IE6
but the underlying problem is that IE6s are still sticking in big enterprise/workplace where they do not have a choice of uninstalling it.
tmlee··on Chromium OS ported to iPad
i guess Apple will somehow port that feature out into the iPad sometime into the future... Pretty sure Jobs did not see the iPad becoming a family shared pc substitute household device...
tmlee··on Apple Magic Trackpad
I dont know, it just seems weird to be positioned on the right (where the mouse is)... well, won't know till i try it~
