tmandry··on Finding a CPU Design Bug in the Xbox 360
In general, no, because branch predictors often ignore or override hints like this. It's hard to say without knowing this architecture specifically, of course.

Keep in mind that it's possible for a branch predictor to predict with "high confidence" a branch it's never seen before, because many branches may overlap into the same memory region of the predictor. The article touches on this.

tmandry··on How to Compromise the Enterprise Endpoint
A bug in their software would be forgivable. This article pointed out both an extremely poor design decision (lots of unnecessary code in the kernel) as well as a serious organizational problem (not doing vulnerability management). These are especially bad considering that they supposed to be a security company.

In both cases, one bad example means it's likely there are many more still undiscovered.

I hope so too!

Maybe I'm just unfamiliar with some of the Postgres syntax.. but shouldn't there be a GROUP BY in the first query?

Can you link to any of this?
tmandry··on Show HN: Building terminal dashboards using ASCII/ANSI art and JavaScript
At first I thought this was just an awful idea, but after hearing what you're using it for I want to use it myself :P

Did you look into the possibility of "adapting" something like d3 to draw on the terminal? Or does it just lack the abstractions necessary to do that cleanly?
