There's Gangplank (http://gangplankhq.com) and Cohoots (http://cohoots.com) for people in Phoenix. Pretty cool vibe and I believe Gangplank is entirely free and Cohoots is pretty inexpensive.
Absolutely. Tesla is very well known and is not a common word that you can brand in your space and develop over time like the word "Square." People will always think of the car dealer.
Looks like they adjusted the figure - earlier it was at $634 million from what I saw but now it looks like it's closer to $500 million. Regardless, it's still a ridiculous amount...
Godaddy auctions is huge too and they recently bought Afternic which was either the largest or 2nd largest domain reseller in the world. I own a handful of short, higher level domains and as they mentioned they're worth a lot less than you might think if you're not actively getting offers on them. Looking at those names, to be honest I wouldn't think they would be worth a whole lot.
Have debated moving to SV but Boulder sounds interesting. When you say "smaller" do you mean the ecosystem, " vibe" and talent is just as strong as SV just with fewer people, or do you mean it's on the right track but still not comparable to SV?
Not sure if it's on Android but on IOS I use "sign easy" and it works very well. The other ones I tried like "Sign n Send" had the same problems you discussed.
Good point - that's what I was thinking but didn't want to be naive. I thought this night be different because this actually makes them money and I didn't know if that would influence them more to say "oh shit, we can make another 30% if we had this ourselves." This might only strengthen our position though. Thanks for the insight.
I work far better at night when I'm alone for obvious reasons like you mentioned - phone isn't ringing, people aren't texting, emails for the most part are far, far less, etc. etc. Definitely a night owl...
Ya I checked uspto.gov before I bought it and the name was available which was the reason I got it. Glad to hear the consensus is that we got a solid name that is good which means I don't have to drop $6000 on another :)
Ya, it's crazy that almost everything related to video is taken. I like promostudio.com a lot which is the reason I got it just wasn't sure if it was a little long. But since this isn't the type of thing to have social sharing and being B2B, that angle probably doesn't matter.
Something along the lines of America's Got Talent where people upload videos of a certain talent they have and they compete against other people doing similar things, allowing the crowd to determine who moves on in some type of contest/challenge model. You can just see somebody like Ryan Seacrest saying something like "Soooo, can YOU top that?!" Everybody loves to compete and win - get corporate sponsors to put up prizes depending on the number of views and votes the site gets. It's a site that has a legitimate possibility of going viral.
Not knowing what the site does or the concept behind it,(because the site shows as unavailable) the one thing I would encourage you to look for is a different domain. IMO, the name will be incredibly hard for people to remember how to spell in addition to potentially "lacking credibility" when one sees the site listed or potentially advertised. Good luck with the new project!
Teach music to 3rd grade students once a week...I love music but never wanted to do it professionally. It's super rewarding when a few of the kids pick up an instrument and actually learn to play over the course of the school year.
I'm not a programmer but I think a site like this makes alot of sense. My last company did pretty strong revenue, well into the 7 figures annually but I wouldn't have a clue how to develop anything. I think many times programmers build products that alot of time don't have strong marketability, but that are "cool" in their eyes. A new set of eyes, a different perspective with a strong business sense might see an angle that a programmer does not for a project that is partially built. I signed up for the waiting list. Good luck!
We had like 15 from 5 different cities with 4 of 5 in SV and Boston including a SV view this morning. All views were for the full 2 minute video. Maybe we were on the cut-line, not sure. The competition is stiff...congrats to the people that got interviews.
We didn't have a prototype at all and I think even with a really strong team, it certainly has to hurt the chances.
FB and Google have this info but it's figuring out a way to use their API without username, email, etc. to get their data. I don't know if you can do with IP address or cookies of some sort since they've already been logged into FB or used Google recently without having them login when they first visit your site. It might not be allowed...
