Having worked for a large corporate I frequently saw decisions that did not always make sense, with the justification being that the company was an innovator and market leader, and that they wanted to be like Apple and tell the customers what they wanted. Market research and such were not considered useful.
I live in South Africa. This has now happened to me as of today… not on a vpn. I’ve been a paying subscriber for years… trying to do the right thing, but now? TBP?
I’m fit and 33. I run, cycle and do adventure races. I got COVID and bronchopneumonia concurrently a month ago. I was lucky enough to not have to go to hospital, but I can honestly say I have never felt so sick in my life. Never has a flu even come close to that for me. Ofc it hits everyone differently, but this wasn’t “just flu” for me.
I am a fan of localstack. I know it isn’t perfect and I hear a lot of the complaints that others have posted. However, it covered everything I’ve had to use so far, mostly lambda, rds, sqs, sns, iam. Sure, won’t work for everyone, and there might be easier ways for me to test, but it fits my needs and has saved me so much time and money.
I understand that I can’t really complain about a service I don’t pay for. That’s fine. I just don’t use it, and my life is so much better for it! Besides, YouTube is blocked at work / on vpn anyway :)
I can't imagine a self-driving car managing to drive on South African (or many other African) roads. It seems like these cars are trained to drive in countries with different types of driver (and pedestrian) behaviour, and probably wouldn't generalise well to places with little regard for rules of the road. Mini-bus taxis here pretty much do whatever they want and are far from rational in their decision making...
