tietjens··on Škoda DuoBell: A bicycle bell that penetrates noise-cancelling headphones
I agree with you, but I can report that in Germany people ring bells constantly and it is simply considered normal. Big cultural difference.
tietjens··on Slightly safer vibecoding by adopting old hacker habits
This is what dev.exe is great for, and it comes with Pi and its own coding agent Shelley preloaded. Also it’s incredibly fast and you can easily access the VMs from your phone.
tietjens··on Show HN: CLI to order groceries via reverse-engineered REWE API (Haskell)
Love this! Super cool.
tietjens··on The Claude Code Source Leak: fake tools, frustration regexes, undercover mode
This is very much AI written, right? The voice sounds like Claude.
tietjens··on Jury finds Meta liable in case over child sexual exploitation on its platforms
I also found Angular to be a nightmare. I enjoy Astro, Svelte, even Preact can be fun. There are many to try. My comment above was just a joke, but I'm getting downvoted.
tietjens··on Jury finds Meta liable in case over child sexual exploitation on its platforms
React benign? That’s the first time I’ve seen this suggestion on HN. Usually it’s held responsible for great crimes and wrongs.
tietjens··on Claude Code Cheat Sheet
Wow nice! Thank you.
tietjens··on "I hope you don't use Generative AI"
Ah thanks. I’m sympathetic to this, but I don’t expect most people to be able to draw that line.
tietjens··on Return of the Obra Dinn: spherical mapped dithering for a 1bpp first-person game
My thoughts exactly.
tietjens··on Anthropic takes legal action against OpenCode
Thank you, I understand all of this. My question was about the reference to "petty and bitter."
tietjens··on Anthropic takes legal action against OpenCode
The OpenCode bun dependency is an unsettling issue I would imagine.
tietjens··on Anthropic takes legal action against OpenCode
This is not my impression, could you explain what you're talking about?
tietjens··on "I hope you don't use Generative AI"
I tried to read this and I have no idea what it's about after +10 paragraphs. Needs a good edit.
tietjens··on Commission presents proposal for EU Inc. – a single legal entity for Europe
> Entrepreneurs, founders, and companies will be able to found an EU Inc. company within 48 hours, for less than €100 and with no minimum share capital requirements.

This alone would be an amazing change. Let's hope it gets through and isn't entirely watered down. Looking at you, Germany... Honestly sounds far to practical an approach for DACH.

btw the link is incorrect. Should be https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_26_...

tietjens··on The unlikely story of Teardown Multiplayer
In my opinion one of the most impressive independent games published on Steam in the last years.
tietjens··on The emergence of print-on-demand Amazon paperback books
This also happens to me living in EU and purchasing EN language titles. I am not 100% certain but I believe this happens because export editions (editions sold outside of the licensing territory) are now printed on demand by Amazon.

The author seems very distressed by this but it's a simple problem to fix: order your books from a bookstore. You'll be surprised what they are able to order.

tietjens··on Grandparents are glued to their phones, families are worried [video]
Can you share some things you were reading?
tietjens··on Claude Code LSP
I assume if this was working it would allow Claude to much more quickly gain an initial understanding of a repo on initial use, no?
tietjens··on Banned in California
That’s good to know, but it’s still interesting information.
tietjens··on Pi – A minimal terminal coding harness
very interesting, i tried it at the start but haven't come back. could you expand on what you mean?
tietjens··on Pi – A minimal terminal coding harness
pi is an officially accepted harness of either Anthropic or OpenAI. I forgot which.
tietjens··on Tailscale Peer Relays is now generally available
Might be time to learn me some Wireguard.
tietjens··on Tailscale Peer Relays is now generally available
It handles virtual displays better in case you want your pc screen to be off while streaming. There might be other reasons.
tietjens··on Halt and Catch Fire: TV’s best drama you’ve probably never heard of (2021)
Does the show change after season 1? I've heard it gets much better, but I had a hard time paying that upfront cost and stopped halfway through.
tietjens··on Major European payment processor can't send email to Google Workspace users
I've considered this switch. You're saying that previously gmail was dropping the emails, or they were landing in spam?
tietjens··on Voxtral Transcribe 2
There is Handy, an open source project meant to be a desktop tool, but I haven’t installed it yet to see how you pick your model.

tietjens··on I miss thinking hard
I wish the author would give some examples of what he wants to think hard about.
tietjens··on UK government launches fuel forecourt price API
Last year there was a study done in Germany. The gas station prices change an average of 14 times a day. This really shocked me. I wonder if this is normal practice most other places.
tietjens··on Malicious skills targeting Claude Code and Moltbot users
What is suspicious? What was “pushed”? The demand for a personal assistant AI bot is real. Even if I don’t personally share it.
tietjens··on Malicious skills targeting Claude Code and Moltbot users
I’m not installing it so someone tell me, how are skills added in ClawdBot/OpenClawd?
