tibiapejagala··on Income inequality is not the problem, it's a symptom
While I agree with you about questioning number of deaths by capitalism, your first link is laughable. Maoist Rebel News, really?

Deaths are counted multiple times, cigarette related deaths worldwide are capitalism fault, children killed by hunger are capitalism fault (especially in North Korea), famine of 1932-33 is capitalism fault (this one is really fucked up, because it is exactly the opposite).

From a quick look at CMakeLists.txt: actual library is header only, CMake used for building examples, tests, docs and some CLI.
tibiapejagala··on Things the media does to manufacture outrage
So it appears that media manufacture outrage for cheap clicks, therefore outrage is not a real problem.

I don't follow this line of reasoning. Let's say the same media often create a fake sexism/ism scandal out of something innocent or unrelated. Can we conclude that sexism/ism is not a problem anymore?

Aren't safe-spaces real? Is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QqgNcktbSA staged? I don't remember things like that from my university years.

tibiapejagala··on Same-Sex Marriage Is a Right, Supreme Court Rules
It's first time I encounter someone sharing this sentiment too.

I'm so tired of hearing 'they're born this way' argument. It just sounds like if it was a choice, it would be totally ok to persecute them.

Just calling something a fallacy makes you seem smart, but doesn't make you right.

Is media attention infinite? Does your government can discuss infinite number of issues? I don't think so.

tibiapejagala··on Java: Real or Not?
I don't like complaining about submissions not working in my browser, but this time I feel like I'm missing a lot of fun.

On Firefox DevEdition nothing past "Pick the one that's not made up!" appears. On latest IE it's every time "ComplexPortletApplicationContext.EditController" vs "ModelMapBasedHandlerMethodProcessor" vs "AbstractPlatformTransactionAttributeSource". 16 times the same question. Well, this could be just bad luck if questions are random. With randomness you never know.

tibiapejagala··on x86 Disassembly
Seconding this. I've implemented a part of x86 instruction encoding and you either find resources:

* comprehensible, but far from complete (some blogs)

* complete, but hard to understand and requiring some implicit knowledge (Intel manual or [1])

Rather than disassembler I recommend writing some simple JIT compiler, with [2] as a starting point. You skip some problems this way.

[1] http://ref.x86asm.net/ this seems pretty cool as a reference, but I can't wrap my head around it

tibiapejagala··on The Other Side of Diversity
"you're white. You can't have workplace diversity angst."

But yes, you can! There are comments here about exactly that - white who can't fit in in chinese team, or even white in white team who can't fit in there. Skin colour isn't some magical 'fit in' trait.

tibiapejagala··on Tim Cook Speaks Up
> It's wrong regardless of when it occurred.

But it can be more or less wrong in specific circumstances.

You seem pretty sure that your opinions and actions will stand the test of time, just like countless people were in the past. So sure that now we are right, and amazed how they could be so wrong.

Well, I don't know the future, but see you in 30 years. Let's see what moral fashion will rule those times. Be prepared to be judged.

tibiapejagala··on When Women Stopped Coding
What are you trying to prove with this cherry-picked time points?

Author notices that number of women in CS significantly went down in 1984 and searches for reasons. According to the graph provided in the parent comment it was actually CS as a whole which went down. Both lines on the graph are awfully similar, and one can assume that there wasn't any sudden catastrophe for women in CS at that time.

When analyzing 'What Happened To Women In Computer Science?' the absolute number is not important, but the ration of women in CS and when that went down (and why).
