thysultan··on When Bitcoin miners take over a town (2018)
If it worked it wouldn't be happening, the fact that it is happening, and to well known country's proofs they don't work and is profitable for country B and C for it to continue to not work.

This not withstanding the obfuscation of country of origin that can happen If country B and C really wanted to work together.

thysultan··on When Bitcoin miners take over a town (2018)
Add Country C into the mix: It doesn't produce carbon but doesn't have tariff's on Country B.

>It's pretty simple, this has been thought out

You and others alike have clearly not thought this out as the scenario i have layered out is already happening with other tariff-able commodities.

thysultan··on When Bitcoin miners take over a town (2018)
country B sells to country C that does the final packaging and then sells it to you.

This is happening right now if you haven't already noticed.

thysultan··on When Bitcoin miners take over a town (2018)
You tax carbon, country B now has an advantage over you. You loose!

Now all your products are produced in country B, you've changed nothing and country B is probably using coal so you're worse off from your initial goal.

You loose double!

thysultan··on When Bitcoin miners take over a town (2018)
You tax industrial bitcoin miners that you can detect, country A now has an advantage over you. You loose!

You actually haven't changed anything it has just moved to another country that is probably using coal. You loose!

thysultan··on BTC Endgame
It's not an attack vector precisely because of that. Another scenario is the 1% could just then continue mining non-empty blocks from where the attacker left of which would make them the most accurate blockchain with regards to proof of work, this case is even more passive than the hard fork option if you are in sync with the attacker at the time of the attack.
thysultan··on BTC Endgame
For the first attack listed you'd need to be the 99% of mining power at which point the 1% could also just fork and leave you to your endeavours.

thysultan··on Bitcoin powers towards $50K as Tesla takes it mainstream
>that uses tons and tons of energy to even exist and operate

Compared to what? The banking industry? Do you know how much it takes to send/secure 100 tons of gold? bitcoin comparatively is minuscule, energy use is going to increase whether you like it or not, the alternative is starvation and death, africa alone is going to double the energy use before long, in the process saving millions from starvation.

Think of it as a productive carbon sink for all that ancient dead organic matter.

thysultan··on India proposes law to ban cryptocurrencies, create official digital currency
It will be easier than you think: You could just send crypto to a friend and they wire me the equivalent in $ with india being non-the-wiser.
thysultan··on The Battle of GameStop
They expect it to reach 500-1000, if they are patient and right they'll probably find gold.
thysultan··on The Battle of GameStop
Maybe cause $BB&B is close to $BB, either the bots are mistaking it for $BB or the WSB "retards" are. Either way there's a bit of a "rocketship emoji" drive for $BB on WSB.

thysultan··on Safari 14 added WebExtensions support, so where are the extensions?
Yes!

uBlock origin is the biggest thing keeping me from going to Safari, that and the Stylus extension(or something like it).

The appeal of gravitational propulsion is in replacing xyz propulsion fuel with electricity regardless of medium(vacuum or not).

thysultan··on A Polar Vortex collapse sequence has begun
Then stop using the word global warming, poor marketing, when it gets cools(which it will) instead of warm it starts to look and sound a con. The more enlightened skeptics are more so "human caused" climate change skeptics than anything else, with the sun as their main point of origin.
thysultan··on Cracks in US nuclear command and control
Can an adversary launch a a first attack, given the latency this introduces? can an adversary await for a solar flare to disturb comms to launch?
thysultan··on Bitcoin is a disaster
All governments would have to follow suit in lock step for that to work, at which point you have far bigger problems, i.e why not just nuke the internet all together, far easier.
thysultan··on Bitcoin is a disaster
>Isn't that the same as printing money

Yes, if electricity was FREE, at which point printing money is the best next logical step as you've achieved free energy with utopia just around the corner.

thysultan··on Photocatalyst splits water into H and O2 at quantum efficiency near 100%
Like how a gun works, essentially a battery for the initial motion, using the subsequent motion storing some for the next initial motion.
thysultan··on Photocatalyst splits water into H and O2 at quantum efficiency near 100%
>Where would you get the energy to split the water?

From a battery.

thysultan··on Photocatalyst splits water into H and O2 at quantum efficiency near 100%
The idea is to use water as the fuel and convert to hydrogen just in time for combustion.
