If the market is crashing then the bid ask spread is going to be very wide but i guess same will be true for common stocks. I think it is important to invest in high volume etf's like qqq/spy. So yeah you are right, arbitrage opportunities are still there i just think that during downtrends there will be more but in that case who cares about arbitrage! The best strategy is to go short.
The headline should be: Institutional and professional investors are going into cash resulting in individual investors that buy ETF's share to go up to 50 percent.
When professional will start shorting and going the other direction. Headline will be: 80 percent of falling US assets are now invested in index funds.
If there is a big swing in either direction. Some stocks will get way overvalued or undervalued compared to their intrinsic value. Maybe this is beneficial to a value investor that picks stocks instead of investing in ETF's? I wonder if ETFS will make the market drop a lot in the next crash and will the etf's even track their underlying accurately? Lot's of arbitrage opportunities.
But i dont see this changing as most interviewers have been through the system and are likely average programmers themselves.
The stops are skipped because no one wants to get out of the bus and there is no one to board it. It has nothing to do with bus bunching.
Here in downtown Vancouver, there are some stops that have 5 different numbered buses making stop. Can they just skip ahead because there are a couple of buses already there at the stop?
To really make this works will have to check 1. Is the bus stopped in front of me the same numbered bus? 2. Does it have enough seats to board people that have lined up?
If yes then lets just not stop.

I don't endlessly do pro and cons. I just try things out.
“For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks. Waiting for a good time to quit your job? The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. The universe doesn't conspire against you, but it doesn't go out of its way to line up the pins either. Conditions are never perfect. "Someday" is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it's important to you and you want to do it "eventually," just do it and correct course along the way.” ― Timothy Ferriss, The 4-Hour Workweek
In those 6 months, I received Canadian PR. Now I am in Vancouver. I think Vancouver is a better place to be than Santa Clara( i was there). But I think so cal is still the best place on the planet. I lived in orange county and would go back to so cal if i ever recieve a green card.
I am pretty openminded myself and don't care of someone's orientation but everyone should have the right to do whatever the f they want as long as it's not hurting anybody. Don't tell me it's hurting their feelings!
There are maybe 100 millions Indian bosses. Do I know all of them? Like everything in life, this is my experience. It isn't a scientific fact!
I love India and Indians, not fond of Indian bosses.. most of them
