throwawayqqq11··on Rent collections are down in New York
>plenty of economic indicators suggest

Now that i saw the framing, i am looking differently on the discussion here. The smalles troublemakers are more news worthy than broad economic factors behind us all, so you dumb down your headline...

Simpletons need their labels to handle complexity. Claiming gender stuff is a no-go, when picking a place and field of research is obviously moronic.

Plathner is authentic and able to see and correct his mistakes (tattoo), two important properties that candidates from the una-party lack. He is certainly not perfect, but apparently better than the rest.

You are not constructive when you only want to strap gov. powers. The resulting void is ripe for the private sector to capture. To counter this, you need capable public institutions, so a constructive approach would mean, more precise regulations with balanced liberties and bureaucratic aid, not plain less of it. (IMO, this general rejection without a propper problem description nor solution is a product of corporate propaganda to achieve this exact void.)

throwawayqqq11··on American Wealth, Sliced Up
The pie gets bigger as long there is room for economic growth, which points to our finite planet and a zero-sum economy after all. When the non-zero wealth creation is only in the form of eg. circular investment, as we see it today, i would dismiss it as a detached numbers game.
throwawayqqq11··on WH proposes rules giving political appointees final approval on research grants
It's a mix of bias, cluelessness and straight sociopathic malice that culminates into this insanity. We urgently need to establish a name and maybe even a pathological classification for it! People effected by this personality disorder should not be in any positions of power but eligible for professional help, therapy. If you disagree with this, then first seek a secondary professional medical oppinion from a Trump University Dr. med., before responding.
throwawayqqq11··on WH proposes rules giving political appointees final approval on research grants
And where do you see common grounds material self-interest shaping todays political landscape?

People need a shared narrative of eg. a problem to solve, to come together. The right wing narrative today is deliberatetly targeted against any imaginary enemy, that does not subscribe to the narrative, which excludes/targets basically all left leaning people, all out groups. With this tribalistic setup in the centre, common ground is impossible.

throwawayqqq11··on The dead economy theory
The big picture can be extended to all economic branches, where steady competition drives down profit margins to near zero, like it is the case for eg. grocery chains already. Functioning markets are solving distribution problems and maybe, some day we will even consider something like algorithmic/HF trading not as a margin siphon but as a (public) service of automated distribution. The bigger picture has to go beyond the How/Who into the the Why/When, which opens up the end conditions of profit driven enterprise and capitalism itself.
throwawayqqq11··on California moves to exempt Linux from its age-verification law after backlash
I am sick of these "government bad" takes. They lack constructive suggestions, like your "sink it" nugget, they lack decent problem descriptions, as if anything after the sinking (likely private governance, aka feudalism) is immune to the ills of big-gov, and on top perpetuate reductivist arguments as if any kind of restrictions of freedom is by definition bad.

This broad rejection without good reasons is borderline sociopathic. ... and parental control is not the gov raising anyone.

Isnt "bad actor" just a set of parameters, with cost at the center of it? And AI a neat tool to deflect responsibility and to bury one in verbose but good sounding bs?

When you throw such a tool into the existing incentive structure, that already produces inhumane atrocities, i wouldnt be that optimistic.

throwawayqqq11··on The hypocrisy of cyberlibertarianism
The corpolibertarians are betting massively on AI to liberate them from the working class and in their wake, transforming societies and economies as needed. I think this long term goal is delusional and the day of the pitchforks is coming. They can't endlessly fabricate distractive images of enemies, like migrants or what ever, while inflating budgets and claims about the future.
throwawayqqq11··on GNU IFUNC is the real culprit behind CVE-2024-3094
I agree so much and wished this was the main focus of the debate. It's more a question of why does this exist in the first place and not of how did they abuse it. Building only from source is the minimum required transparency and a CI/CD pipeline able to manipulate the artifact before release takes this away. I remember the outrage, when serde (i think it was) wanted to ship parts as pre-compiled binaries for build performance reasons...

You mean better education for uber achievers that can pay more for it? That is already the case in the US [1] for a long time now and with expectable outcomes of poverty and wasted economic and human potential, observable today. With the melting middle class, these problems will continue to grow. Are you for euthanasia already? The next step is cutting public education even more and divert these budgets into private school via school vouchers [2]. Can you guess the outcome?

Breaking down complex topics into binary black and white doesnt have to be wrong. The more important part is, how much wealth they extracted and how exactly. Was it market dominance with a superior product or amoral cost externalization.

The angle of treating transportation as regulated utility shifts the business focus away from profit onto providing services, which sometimes can cost more than your income. Similarly, would you close schools, because they didnt make enough money? Airlines are highly subsidized anyway, treating them as regulated utilities falls short of taking public ownership as public institutions, where services just cost money/subsidies.

First:

> That said, an adult who “loves to be a kindergartener” is not an indicator of good mental health

This sentence is insane and reflects on a narrow and egocentric worldview, which is a bad prospect for further conversation.

You think i am not toying with you, because you dont fully grasp my example.

> I think you are confusing the concept of a biological category, and the concept of a cultural stereotype

The feminie kindergartener is a biological male with a female-ish brain. I added one more important dimension besides your genetics/reproductive organs angle. This alone should be enough to make you rethink your clear dichotomy of biological sex and culture/behavior.

Is the development of the brain only biological or only cultural. (This is a trick question. The nature vs nurture debate is decades old and messy but certainly non-binary.)

You can only regard the kindergartener as male, when you exempt all his female traits, including biological ones. Why is this not simplistic or ignorant? And ontop of that, calling such a person mentally ill is just evil to me.

throwawayqqq11··on US Criminally Charges Southern Poverty Law Center, Blanche Says
And here comes your simplicity again ...

Yes, the edges are fuzzy but biology and sociology, the 2 domains defining gender, are not one dimensional. There are many ways an individual could step out of the majority cohort with different body, brain or social perception traits. There are many gender determining factors.

Imagine a empathetic, low testosterone and muscle structure male that loves to be a kindergartener. Lets say he develops homosexual tendencies in his 30s and tries to late transition in his 40s. The role he played in society never changed, "he" has always been the same feminine guy caring for children but somewhere in is life, your perception of him changed. At what stage in his life would he fall out or into your category of "protecting of the weak"? What if the same person transotions before puberty and is indistinguishable from a 'real' woman from the outside?

I could keep toying with you by using your simplicity against you, since there are fuzzy edges everywhere.

> stop demanding the world to see you as something you aren’t.

What if its you seeing someone as something they arent?

If you dont like that transwomen want to be called and regarded as "real" women, just remind yourself about the complexity of what a "real" women is and that this person primarily just wants to fit in the role and is satisfied with that social, and not biological, definition of a "real" women.

In essence, the entire topic is about broad category mismatches, human dignity and respect and cognitive biases around out groups and disgust. And no matter how long you keep stare on ot, your dick wont give the full picture.

throwawayqqq11··on We found a stable Firefox identifier linking all your private Tor identities
I have my problems with that argument. Yes, less identifying bits means a smaller bucket but for the trackers, it also means more uncertainty, doesnt it? So when just a few others without JS join your bucket eg. via a VPN, profiling should become harder.

In case your simple biology marks you as male, have you ever looked down your chest and noticed those two nipples? Yes, biology and thus sex and gender is very messy and complicated. But for the beginning, at first, you should only try to comprehend the fact that men can even -- against gods perfect design -- produce milk.

I am not a single bit sorry about shaking your overly simplistic world. Maybe, someday you might even comprehend the harm, your ignorance causes.

How could i not call the behavior of pretending biology is simple while going through life with the f'ing counter indication on your body "ignorant". Maybe you are a better candidate for therapy than all those who do not conform to your simplistic norms.
