What irks one the most is the arbitrary discrimination between 'critical' and 'non-critical' maintainers. Use TOTP for everybody and be done with it.
* How do we know that these ain't fitted with GPS trackers?
* Why are maintainers forced to give up their snail mail addresses?
* How will the keys be re-issued? Who's going to pay for this?
* Oh, and there's still the silly geo-fencing issue: 'Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States'
> - How many engaging conversations have you had on HN in the last year?
- None that I remember, thank goodness. One man's conversations are another man's flame wars.
> - How many people do you know on HN?
- At the very least, knowing HN users' affiliations and posting tendencies is key to quickly blocking unwanted ideological noise, whether it concerns international politics or programming languages.
The first red hat^W flag one gets from the foundation's site is total lack of governance information (as in: who's in charge) and financial data.
Maybe I'm reading their site upside down, but this doesn't bode well for the foundation.
As for 'all innovations conceived...', folk tales are replete with such contract clauses. Usually it ends with a firstborn child being part of the bargain [0].

Language models trained on such data encode the hegemonic viewpoint; Jo and Gebru, 2021 detail issues and solutions around this topic in-depth. Enhancing the diversity of our training data is a top priority as we continue to iterate our data collection process.
(Source: https://docs.cohere.ai/data-statement#source-demographics)Hegemonic viewpoint?? Maybe I'm late for my mutual criticism session.
Next step: 'please reconsider your position on issues A B and C, as there are reasonable indications that your physical address may be leaked to those you disagree with'.
Generics are necessary to bring performant data structures to Fortran, and yet they are nowhere near Go's generics.
For the usual naysayers doubting Fortran's place in a modern world: whenever you are reading or watching a weather forecast, that's decades of Fortran staring at you. Whenever you drive past a nuclear power plant, or an airbase with 'igloos', remember that nuclear safety codes run on Fortran.
It's (1986), and the direct link is:
It probably can be optimized in a bunch of ways:
* Less drastic transitions between accentuated text and the rest
* An ML algorithm to select quantifiably better patterns (with distillation if necessary)
* Enrolling visually- and cognitively-impaired persons (e.g.dyslexics) into the study to avoid undercutting accessibility
We've been doing printing and written/illuminated books for many centuries, and statistical readability studies for the last 80 years or so. If a variation of this technique is better than the existing 'flat' type (even with ligatures), NASA/DARPA/NIH would be investigating it shortly.
...which is a reply to the following thread:
Ukrainian soldiers shoot Russian prisoners of war in the legs and afterwards give them a severe beating. At the beginning of the video, there are Russian POWs lying on the ground with bullet wounds in their legs, some of them have got leg bones broken.
It might give the impression that the Russian military were captured after having been wounded. But that's not the case. At the end of the video, we can see Ukrainian soldiers shooting all the newly arrived prisoners through their legs.
Many of them are dying from shock due to the pain right on camera. And all of this is being filmed by Ukrainian soldiers themselves. The Big Brother^W Tech has already been weaponized, first in an internal American setting, now in a total (hopefully not thermonuclear) war. This won't stop until tactics on both sides are more or less indistinguishable.
Quite funny.
As a side note, it looks like Russian 'below-the-threshold' invasion of 2014 significantly altered American strategy and made it more versatile. We'll just have to wait and see if it changes the end game, though.
Nope, thank you for spying on your users.
