throwaway3157··on Seattle-Area Patient With Coronavirus Dies
$5k per person? Are these business class seats? this can certainly be done for cheaper.
throwaway3157··on Go: 90% Perfect, 100% of the Time
This is unclear to me. How is this 90% perfect, 100% of the time?
throwaway3157··on Seattle-Area Patient With Coronavirus Dies
Correct, I've been told by medical professionals that there are hundred(s) of strains but the flu shot only covers the handful of strains they expect to be prevalent for that flu season. I have been wondering how they come up with that prediction though...

You're commenting on the conspiracy theorist. This is nonsense and I'm flagging it

Why not here?

> How did Coalfire not notice that the target was owned by a completely different entity than the organization that signed the contract?

The courthouse was owned by who? The sherriffs? I thought the ownership was okay, but it was the over-eager law enforcement that refused to budge because they weren't informed.

Wow, that's quite a lot more than I expected. I wonder what it looks like in North Korea. Unfortunately, it is probably much worse

Generally each bank has many fund managers and analysts that do a lot of public speaking about their bets, thoughts, and speculations. You'll see them on public news stations as guest commentators

I recall there's a way to sign up to an email subscription of Matt Levine's writing, without Bloomberg and their pop-ups. Anyone know how to do that?

> it could be done by someone who took a three-week mail-in training course.

Sounds like you have healthy teeth, but your comment is fairly ignorant of the fact that nearly everything you described isn't done by someone with a graduate medical degree, but generally is done by a dental assistant/hygienist . I wouldn't want someone to touch my teeth if they haven't practiced using the instruments in a classroom. This isn't a programming course..

> Dental assistants receive their formal education through academic programs at community colleges, vocational schools, technical institutes, universities or dental schools. Graduates of these programs usually receive certificates. Although the majority of academic dental assisting programs take nine to eleven months to complete, some schools offer accelerated training, part-time education programs or training via distance education. I haven't used Borderless, but Transferwise in general has been fantastic. I looked at Revolut, but have been too happy with Transferwise to even truly consider it

I actually have this conversation a lot, and the answer is usually "okay" and rarely "nope". Stakeholders have to weigh many more pros and cons.
throwaway3157··on Running servers and services well is not trivial (2018)
I also use to manage exim4/spamd long ago. Part of the problem I remember is that your email (sent from your server) can be marked as spam on someone else's inbox (e.g. you are blacklisted without knowing it). So while you haven't had issues on your side, it's hard to prove that you didn't have issues outside your box. This was especially common with VPS datacentres, as their IPs routinely showed up on blacklists.
throwaway3157··on Pickle
According to a recent post [1], "Pickle, number #1 source of critical vulnerabilities in python applications since 1991" which was interesting & newsworthy to me. I've used Python for a long time and was unaware of this

throwaway3157··on Kubernetes is NOT a container orchestrator
Click bait title. The point of this article is that Kubernetes is indeed an orchestrator, but "so much more". However, it's mostly a bunch of random conversational pieces, like mentioning the slack channel has 90k users

Can you explain this in a simpler way? I find the words confusing [1] and incompatible [2][3]. For example:

[1] > "The role of the high-reputation Venture Capital provides a tastemaker function which provides a signal and Schelling Point"

[2] > "100% of the dollars raised are being given to non-profits and FOSS projects"

[3] > "by primarily allocating funds to Venture Capitalists"

I also got invited to one of these diversity workshops at $JOB once, by our VP of diversity. Cost was >$5000 but I would have to get my manager to pay for it. They sent this email to me, not my manager. No thanks.

Edit: why the downvote? You could tell me what I did wrong
