In order for him to be prosecuted, several highly unlikely things have to occur.

Trump doesn't pardon him. I can't really see this happening. If they have a falling out, then Elon will just pay him off. It's not like Trump will turn down a bribe.

A democrat is elected president in 2028. After that, demographics substantially reduce their chances of being elected (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/democrats-future-crisi...). They would have to either abandon progressive views and move right or offer an incredibly compelling candidate. Both of these seem unlikely to me. After that, people in red states will determine the future of this country.

throw16180339··on The young, inexperienced engineers aiding DOGE
Why would I assume otherwise? They aren't neutral observers from a trusted third party. Neither Musk nor Trump has a track record of honesty, and both have used their power for personal gain. A recent example is Musk moving NTSB announcements to Twitter.

From what I can tell, the apparent purpose of DoGE is to benefit Trump and his allies financially, weaponize funding against opponents, and dismantle parts of the government they oppose. Musk’s preference for young engineers may stem from the same logic the military uses with young soldiers — they tend to be more obedient and less likely to push back.

Demographic changes also make it much harder for the Democrats to win in the future (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/democrats-future-crisi...).

They're taking orders from bad actors, it's absurd to assume good faith.
throw16180339··on The young, inexperienced engineers aiding DOGE
The goal is to enrich themselves, weaponize funding, and shut down parts of the government that they dislike.

throw16180339··on H.R.25 – Repeal income tax and abolish the Internal Revenue Service
Trump's plans to prevent California from receiving disaster relief are only the beginning; the Republicans will spend the next four kneecapping blue states while trying to move the country towards Gilead. I'd favor secession if I lived in California; they're the 5th largest economy in the world and can definitely survive independently.

> In my mind the American Republic died when the insurrectionist leaders didn’t go to jail.

That was the point where I stopped investigating Republican positions. Their subsequent actions have demonstrated that it was a waste of time in trying.

That's apparently what the majority of the country wants.
