I havn't read the post yet but I clicked on it because I assumed it was a blog post by heroku, it's interesting that it links to a redirect to another url, I'm sure this is just an honest mistake but I wonder if someone has tested if things like google.com (for google pages) heroku.com (heroku apps) and other premium domains fair better with HN because of the official nature.

I also wonder how that would be affected if HN started showing the subdomain of the url as well.

Are there Mobile apps that connect to this? I use the campfire app all the time

Whilst I agree the writing is a little sloppy (as I've agreed above) I think I clearly define what I believe is an SEO Scumbag, defining SEO and practices will just cause debate about that rather than the actual subject

I'm sorry that you found the post hard to read, I do have a tendency to get there and their and the others mixed up and my writing style is a bit, strange but a lot of people don't seem to mind and get used to it, I am trying to improve with each post.

As others have suggested, there is a vast amount of resources for basic search optimisation, I'm on my mobile at that are online, but I will write a pos linking to them at some point

I know HN is typically anti-seo and I understand the reasons why, it's an unregulated industry that gives an impression of witchcraft rather than stable practices..

But worst than that, there are many people in it just in it to make as much money out of people in the shortest amount of time without thinking of the long term relationship or the consequences for that business.

I wrote this so that the next time someone says, I'm thinking of taking on an SEO company, I can point them to that and they can at least think a bit more about what they expect and look closer at what the company is doing

Hey HN, I've been running barcamps, conferences & hackdays for over five years now and I wanted to set up a barcamp style event but on the subject of startups, I've got a date, venue and some intresting ideas I'm going to try such as '20 minute mentor meetings' where I've convinced friends in relevant industries (PR, marketing, legal, accounting) to come and advise startups for free during the day and our cofounder speed dating to try and build some long lasting relationships.

My aim is to grow this over the next few years to other cities (and countries) if it works.. My other event http://www.thinkvisibility.com, is five years old in March and has (I believe) a good reputation in it's own industry.
