Oh right on. The 128 bit addrs was what I was referring to. I find it pretty intuitive. I don't know much more about the spec so please forgive my ignorance.
the_real_cher··on NOLA 'Nacular: One man's crusade to preserve New Orleans's vernacular signage
I'm born and raised in Nola and was living there at that time and am still living there...so please keep the dramatic sanctimonious comments to yourself.

Katrina was a 'bath' not a 'drowning'.

Nola's property values are currently at some of the highest they've ever been.

the_real_cher··on NOLA 'Nacular: One man's crusade to preserve New Orleans's vernacular signage
That was just a bath.
the_real_cher··on Wolves are reconquering Europe. Can people learn to live with them?
Looks like zero documented death by wolves in the entirety of the 20th century in the contiguous North America.
the_real_cher··on Jobs and Software Is Fucked
I think its the smart people who things click well for that have the most problems because theyre not worried about things clicking, so their whole focus is on how B.S. the actual industry is.
the_real_cher··on Wolves are reconquering Europe. Can people learn to live with them?
Are wolves even a threat? Outside of movies theyre pretty harmless.
the_real_cher··on NOLA 'Nacular: One man's crusade to preserve New Orleans's vernacular signage
They've been saying that for at least a hundred years.

the_real_cher··on Mornings and nights no longer exist at 47C: A day in the hottest place in India
> Physical intimacy is fun

Lots of things are fun.

Doesnt make them any less irresponsible.

the_real_cher··on Mornings and nights no longer exist at 47C: A day in the hottest place in India
I dont think people should be rewarded for irresponsible behavior.
the_real_cher··on Did Claude increase bugs in rsync?
Is there a non vibe coded fork of rsync?
the_real_cher··on Ask HN: Is the web for machines (/llm.txt) the one we wished we had as humans?
Are all blogs static though?
the_real_cher··on Mornings and nights no longer exist at 47C: A day in the hottest place in India
Indian people definitely need to do something differently.
the_real_cher··on Mornings and nights no longer exist at 47C: A day in the hottest place in India
There needs to be a population decline in these places where living conditions are not amenable to human existence.

Yet somehow theres over a billion people.

the_real_cher··on Mornings and nights no longer exist at 47C: A day in the hottest place in India
Why is there a billion people in India if these conditions exist?

It has less space than USA and almost triple the population.

Its never made sense to me why the birthrate was so high in countries with deadly living conditions, meanwhile the population in the United States with excellent conditions is declining.

the_real_cher··on AI outperforms law professors in Stanford Law study
There will still need to be a lawyer in the loop to review and stamp and take accountability.

However, the good news is that a whole bunch of laywer positions in drafting docs and research will be able to be eliminated due to AI.

the_real_cher··on AI outperforms law professors in Stanford Law study
Law and accounting both seem to be the perfect fields to replace with AI.

Just massive data where you either do calculations or interpretation.

You will replace 100 lawyers with AI and have a single lawyer to review what the AI outputs and stamp their name on it for accountability.

the_real_cher··on Love systemd timers
It does seem to go against the Linux spirit of one tool one purpose.
the_real_cher··on Love systemd timers
The main person in charge of Linux itself isn't considered the most humble but they make amazing products.
the_real_cher··on Love systemd timers
This is such a modern view. People used to HATE systemd when it first came out, but I always liked it and knew people would eventually come around and its nice to see they finally did!

the_real_cher··on Can You Stop a Hypersonic Missile?
Doesnt seem like our species is very good at that.
the_real_cher··on Can You Stop a Hypersonic Missile?
Interesting post. It made me think that a manned Navy of individual high value ships becomes essentially useless if you can take out a 13 billion dollar carrier with a 3 billion dollar missile.

It becomes a war of financial attrition at that point.

the_real_cher··on 'Backrooms' Stuns with $81M Debut
People who dont live in San Francisco or New York are significantly undervalued with respect to their talent and ability to contribute in the tech industry. Same with women and black people.

Give talented people money period.

the_real_cher··on 'Backrooms' Stuns with $81M Debut
You idealize young people. There's talented people of all ages. I just want talented people to get money...in general.
the_real_cher··on Does anybody like React?
