th0br0··on Image-Match: Open-source scalable reverse image search
Uhh... that's a fork. This is the original repo: https://github.com/rhsimplex/image-match
th0br0··on Show HN: I released my first Android game: “Black Hole Escape”
It's pretty easy to get a high score by keeping the finger on the display. Just got 299 without doing anything.
th0br0··on Do we really need a wi-fi enabled water pitcher?
To the mods: might want to add ?locale=us to the URL as non-US users are redirected to the /intl page first.
th0br0··on Show HN: World's easiest email hosting
Whoops. Looks like I totally misread that OP. Yeah... aliases is what I was thinking about as well.

Although, separate email adresses in conjunction with a catch-all are better. After all, with an alias, you can just cut the recipient's address off just before the + which isn't that big a hurdle to spammers...

th0br0··on Show HN: World's easiest email hosting
Very simple reason: have a separate email for each website that requires a signup. That way, you'll know directly which website leaked your email address to some spammers.
th0br0··on Show HN: Yet another (faster) way to discover events nearby
Doesn't matter for German law unfortunately.
th0br0··on Show HN: Yet another (faster) way to discover events nearby
First of all, yay for native IPv6! :)

Just a nitpick: You're currently hosting the page through Hetzner, and as such on German servers. By German law you're required to provide a valid imprint/Impressum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impressum

th0br0··on Google Ratings has a Windows server loading page
It actually seems to be ASP.NET all the way through.

  Server: Microsoft-IIS/8.5
  X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
th0br0··on Zer0: addictive Web number-game like 2048 between two news from HN
This seems to be the original game, which zer0.io clones?

There's this fun screenshot that Snowden posted which makes you wonder why all of this is happening in the first place:

th0br0··on Paperwork: A Personal Document Manager for Scanned Documents
Interesting approach! What do you use as an interface for inputting everything?
th0br0··on The Linux Foundation Announces Project to Build Real-Time OS for IoT Devices
I wonder whether they will add Intel Edison support in the future...
th0br0··on R, the master troll of statistical languages (2012)
You will (inevitably?) run into factors when importing data from SPSS files... sure, you can discard them upon reading... but are you sure you don't want access to the value labels in the future?
th0br0··on Austrian Minister Calls for a Constitutional Right to Pay in Cash
We have a similar system here in Germany (established in 1996) [1]. Still up and running and widely in use! (i.e. 141,2 million EUR loaded onto cards, 118,4 million EUR spent with the cards in 2013, see the German wikipedia page)

th0br0··on Show HN: The Deadlock Empire – Slay dragons, master concurrency
1. Move Thread 0 to end.

2. do a few iterations through thread 1 (e.g. n=5)

3. step darkness++ concurrently (via expand), so that darkness=1

4. step thread 0 to Monitor.Wait(sanctum)

5. the rest is straightforward.

th0br0··on Twitter's rumored algorithmic timeline switch
Actually, the Chrome incognito mode isn't worth that much...

https://valve.github.io/fingerprintjs2/

Gives me the same fingerprint in my browser & incognito mode.

th0br0··on Unlocking my Lenovo laptop battery
I remember running into a similar issue with my W520. The WiFi card had died and, given that this is a simple mPCIe card, I simply ordered a replacement. Turns out, Lenovo hard-codes the valid PCI IDs in the BIOS (some sources said it was for FCC compliance) and refuses to boot if you plug in an invalid card. In the end, I had to flash the BIOS with a cracked one I found somewhere on the web to get the system running again...
th0br0··on Show HN: Hint.css v2.0 – Pure CSS tooltip library
It's not really a bug. Just that the rectangle border overlays the triangle.
th0br0··on Google's Free Deep Learning Course
Purely video-based though, no materials at all, no transcript. That's a no-go for me.
th0br0··on Facebook Begins Campaign to Purge Europe of Xenophobic, Extremist Posts
At least in Germany, they've outsourced this to a sub-group of the Bertelsmann company ([1]). They're a big (international) media company. This kind of has a sour taste, given that they probably have economic stakes in the whole game.

th0br0··on The Surreal Story of StubHub Screwing Over a Kobe Fan
Well, they're only writing about Jesse and not his 3 friends though. ... bad reaction IMHO, given that he bought 4 tickets initially and not 4.
th0br0··on The Surreal Story of StubHub Screwing Over a Kobe Fan
Looks like "ticketsforless.com" got some great free PR (if they manage to spin the media on this) - from the FB comments:

Jason Durbin · VP of Ticket Operations at Tickets For Less

Jesse Sandler – I’m the VP of Ticket Operations at Tickets For Less. We’ve reached out to TheLeadSports.com and are trying to contact you. We have four seats for you in section 106 for Kobe’s last home game. Please contact me or our President Dan Rouen at 913-685-3322.

th0br0··on Uber’s No-Holds-Barred Expansion Strategy Fizzles in Germany
Probably because you essentially rate a service without having a fixed rating scale. Rating _people_ is always purely subjective and therefore judgmental - yet this is what Uber wants you to do. (Leaving aside the potential economic impact of such ratings...)
