tesch1··on M4 Macs can't virtualise older macOS
From the reference: "GOAMD64=v3: all v2 instructions, plus AVX, AVX2, BMI1, BMI2, F16C, FMA, LZCNT, MOVBE, OSXSAVE."

Were those supposed to have been included? What of those is not emulated by Rosetta?

I'm struggling to understand the chain of following how this results in us not having nice things?

Iiuc, paraphrasing, sounds like go made an assumption about user requirements, that turned out to not be true when the arm macs came out? Wouldn't the arm mac users of go prefer to have docker images that dont need to be emulated anyhow?

tesch1··on Apple may stop producing Vision Pro by the end of 2024
Having used both AVP and occulus 3, the AVP is just way better user experience already, no need for them to copy an inferior product. Would expect usability delta to persist, (as well as the price delta.)

This so much. Can wear the AVP for hours uninterrupted, but lasted 10 mins in Occulus 3 before getting queasy. Have given AVP demos to dozens of people, offering varying degrees of guidance and everyone just "gets it" after a couple minutes regardless. Eye and hand tracking UI is phenomenal and awesome.

Or get mad at yourself for not paying for more space. Airlines are a business, and you chose that particular seat knowing full well ahead of time what the parameters of that purchase were.

Would airlines be able to offer more space for more money? Sure they would. Would people pay for it? The market has already answered!

Train travel is great with one too.

I travel regularly with a vr headset and it takes a minority of my carry on space packed in a protective case. Non issue.
tesch1··on Traveling with Apple Vision Pro
My prediction is that airlines will start offering VR headsets much like they added seatback screens.
tesch1··on Google won't be mandating a strict return-to-office plan
Tbf, some Americans might think it's shit to live life in a 100 m^2 box they don't even own and commuting in a crowded stinky wagon for longer than 26 minutes.

Not sure there's just one right way to live though. I wasn't saying there is, just sharing some data to a discussion oblivious to the realities of most Americans.

tesch1··on Google won't be mandating a strict return-to-office plan
Because door-to-door transport is faster than public transportation. Average American commute time is 26 minutes, what is it where you live?
