Ditto in the Philippines. The non-power users I know all have jailbroken iPhones.

Wirecard is a good option for Europe and parts of Asia. Not sure if they support India. Recurly also supports Wirecard APIs via the ActiveMerchant API.

That is my point. Someone else (a normal person) breaks a major flooding news in her area via Internet/twitter before CNN or other MSM. In our area at least, it would be at least 10 minutes or more before our MSM gets any news on this.

Another recent example, tied to the flooding, we had brownouts but the MSM was reporting incorrect brownout schedules. We went to twitter and got the tweets directly from the utility company. This example is not breaking news per se but it affects our daily lives.

I think you are missing the point of the post. Tiger Woods getting into a car accident in a non-tournament day is for the most part "useless" breaking news. Some might argue that it's still useless even in a tournament day.

However, what if you received flooding information 45 minutes before it happens in your area. (I'm from the Philippines and we experienced heavy flooding recently and my house was nearly flooded b/c the "normal" news channels didn't know how bad it got before it got really bad). Of course, that's just one example.

Point is the power of Internet/twitter allows for breaking news that might be relevant to you and might give you enough time to avoid disaster, etc.

It may or may not solve a problem but it does tell you what it does: it helps you share ppt and powerpoint files.

The notifications idea is very useful. I can immediately see a need for merging twitter, facebook, gcal, gmail and gdocs into one menubar/systray app. Even a simple web app using tornado would already be useful.

I met the founders (saikat and ??) at HeyZap's (post SUS) party. They described it as (Peldi's) Mockups but for the Web. Interesting underserved niche.

According to http://mashable.com/2009/10/20/nook-official/, wifi only works in B&N stores. If that is the case, it can't compete with Kindle 2 internationally.

That depends on the cost. If it's like $20, for a mobile vendor that already has an iPhone, that's a minor expense. It's also possible that the dongle is free with a monthly subscription fee.

Like anything in life, it's about balance. Eat healthy and balanced diet and exercise 3 to 4x a week. If you over extend yourself, you will get hurt or sick. Ditto if you do nothing and overeat.

I was in SV at that time. Perhaps it was the sign of the times and WSGR had their pick of startups. Luckily, we were able to raise VC money but at the time, it was a bit demoralizing to have a legal firm say no to your money.

Even with offer to pay. At that time, there were too many startups and not enough partners/lawyers to take them all on. Maybe it was the sign of the times and things have changed.

An informative video, especially the % given to cofounders/early employees but this is a very atypical startup (when they were starting up) with VC funding (early on) and seemingly everything going right. I mean they signed up Wilson Sonsini as if you just walk in, pitch and that's it. That wasn't my personal experience talking to Wilson Sonsini (via a referral).

Ditto. I was going through a separation / divorce and I just went to the gym religiously. I found sleeping was way easier when your body was tired. It also kept my mind fresh.
