Denver's airport is one of the biggest airports[1]. When I first moved to Denver in 2014, they didn't have a flight to India. In 2015 they announced a _direct_ flight to Banglore, India. My point being not having a flight is not really a roadblock.

tequila_shot··on NSA’s top talent is leaving because of low pay, flagging morale, unpopular reorg
Honest question: What's the skillset of a hacker at NSA? Not that I'm targeting to become one, just curious as to how someone would become a hacker.
tequila_shot··on Shitcode
Bad idea.
tequila_shot··on Ask HN: Fully online CS degrees?
I currently am taking this course. It's one of the best, and I get to learn a ton.

Coming to specifically the question, if you need a BS in Computers, then from personal experience, yes, your changes are much much higher if you already have BS.

If you don't, then they'll look into your SOP and related work to see if you good exposure to Computers.

tequila_shot··on Show HN: Discover, Listen and Discuss Classical Music
Just tangetial : if you don't know anything about classical but would love to learn a lot, then Colorado Public Radio does a fantastic job.

Listen for yourself: http://www.cpr.org/classical

tequila_shot··on Show HN: Discover, Listen and Discuss Classical Music
I really LOVE your website. However, as a programmer, I listen to Classical during a) coding b) driving ; and for both of these activities, I already use CPR ( Colorado Public Radio)'s classical stream and it works great. So to me, I'd not use your website as much because I already have CPR. My two cents would be to do some market/consumer research to see if there are users who would use all the fantastic features above.

tequila_shot··on Chess master Lev Alburt teaches strategy, patience, and prognostication
OK, nice article. I'm a chess player myself and so yes I did make some connections.

However, when I opened the article, I was looking for what those lessons were. At least glimpse of them.

tequila_shot··on SoundCloud faces do-or-die vote by investors
Yes. The article you are referring to has been to the top of HN. And I think the buzzfeed article did a good job by speculating on the reasons why Sound Cloud may be doing bad with CEO not being available. This TechCrunch article, however uses just the image with no context to explain something which is _completely_ out of context for what this article is trying to convey.
tequila_shot··on Richard Stallman Explains [video]
well RMS has nothing to do with Open Source. Open Source is different from FSF. But I generally agree with your comments. I have seen in a number of videos that RMS tends to always fall back on the "Proprietary software is evil".

tequila_shot··on Awless: A Mighty CLI for AWS
Well, I think it's not constructive criticism. If there were a closed source project, then yes, it would be a very helpful highlight.
tequila_shot··on Burnout and Mental Health
I'm thinking I'll be fired, and then because staying in US without an employer even for a day is illegal, I'll be forced to go back.
tequila_shot··on Burnout and Mental Health
> This is a legitimate question, not a criticism: why do you think that you, specifically, will be the scapegoat?

Because I am the lead developer on this project and the manager of this project was always unavailable to escalations / concerns. In the end I just think he'd wipe his hands off and say he was never involved in this project ( though he is supposed to be working 50% on this project)

tequila_shot··on Burnout and Mental Health
This is exactly what I am going through right now. It's been 5 months and I don't have any recollection of my first month.

I'm in the middle of a high profile project which goes to UAT in two weeks, and I know it is slated to fail. There's just too many issues.

I have been working 85+ hours every week constantly for the past ~5 months. Being an Immigrant ( H1B) makes it more difficult. All I do these days is code for 15+ hours everyday with an impending weight hanging over my head constantly that I'll be made a scapegoat if the project fails.

I've started to lookout for opportunities, and since it's September, the number of companies offering jobs in my domain are _very_ less.

What did you do when things like these happened?

tequila_shot··on The mystery of India’s deadly exam scam
This is my belief. It was worse when Congress was in power. Now that Modi is in power, I'm hopeful India's state would improve.

But this goes without saying, I don't really know. No one really knows. Modi has committed a lot of atrocities during his term as a CM for Gujarath.

The only feeling that sticks with me is, fear/uncertainty of future.

Still not sure why I'm being down voted. I did provide some reasoning as to 'why' I'm being uncertain.

tequila_shot··on The mystery of India’s deadly exam scam
People in India are killed for scams of far lesser magnitude. Being an Indian I sometimes feel really bad about what my country has become.
tequila_shot··on RethinkDB Driver for Java now available
> Besides as others point out vanilla Django was designed with SQL in mind.

I am not trying to challenge your statement and not trying to be sarcastic. Can you quote the link where this is stated so that I can learn the background?

tequila_shot··on RethinkDB Driver for Java now available
You are right. I am looking for a driver to work with ORM.
