technological··on Ask HN: If not fresh out of college, what did you do to join a FAANG?
Regarding “ To accomplish the above (without having to significantly increasing your income”

How do you judge what is important for you and what is like luxury which you don’t need right away ? I mean let’s say iPad is nice to have and would enjoy but it is not necessary or must have . But should I not buy something I don’t need to right now but save for future which is very random or unsure . I mean let’s say I been saving all long hoping to have a nice life after retirement but all of sudden I got hit by bus and thinking I should have enjoyed all things I wished sure rather than saving when on death bed . How to balance ?

technological··on Ask HN: If not fresh out of college, what did you do to join a FAANG?
I know becoming financially independent does not make a person happy, however do you think in present condition money plays a important role in feeling happy ?
technological··on Happy New Year HN! What are your plans for the new year?
Happy New year everyone. Certainly I have plans for the new year like every year, however this time I want to make sure I stick or complete one thing in list of things I want to do this year. I wish I have positive energy that I have during end of year and first few days of the new year where I want to learn so many new things throughout the year . May be it is my excitement about doing so many things which may be not practically possible that you causes the disappointment
technological··on Ask HN: How do I protect myself against SIM swap attacks?
Not Op but I can few of your questions.

* I am using same google voice number as my actual google account. I live with constant fear that if I am locked out of google account then I cannot access my voice number. Only thing I do to avoid this scenario is to have back up code written somewhere. * Trust on Google * as of now no

technological··on Ask HN: Have you found something you love to do? If yes how?
I love talking, so started my own podcast in my native language (Telugu). Always wanted to talk on stage or do stream on YouTube but never was confident but with podcast I can speak anything I want and don’t worry about anyone judging me.

Even though I don’t have very large number of subscribers but I am satisfied with the few people who listen and like . I don’t do any post processing, just raw recording.

Any interested listeners can check out it at -

Wow that’s awesome. Is there any blog which you have where I can learn more about your work and experiences
technological··on Beyond small talk: Study finds people enjoy deep conversations with strangers
That’s why I love traveling in public transport (bus) during undergrade in india. It gave me opportunity to interact with so many strangers and also helped expand my thinking/ability to understand by listening to so many different experiences
technological··on Farmer born in 1842 talks about life and change (1929) [video]
That’s true . That’s why I always get stuff which is relatively cheap but gives me immense happiness, like buying stickers, old books , tattoos (water)
technological··on Farmer born in 1842 talks about life and change (1929) [video]
I don’t know if it’s only me but while growing up I was pretty excited about the future and technology advances but life back then was simple. Small things used to give lot of happiness, even though we did not had so many luxuries but was very content with what we had and that hope that future will be bright was enough to motivate you . However now thinking about the future makes me sad and how most of us (or may be just me) forgot that we have one life and it’s so precious.
technological··on As a solo developer, I decided to offer phone support (2017)
While working as L2/L3 support for a enterprise product, i notice that people were not that mean/angry as they sound in the email (Maybe it was a wrong interpretation of mine) when you actually call them. Even though calling customer sounds like lot of time waste but many issues were resolved quickly over the phone rather than email/ticketing system. I really enjoyed talking with various customers and understand their use case and usually used to go beyond and above to help them.

technological··on Show HN: Hck – a fast and flexible cut-like tool
Nice one op. It’s mostly due to my lack of knowledge of rust but the code is not easy to read unlike golang. Does anyone feel the same ? (between nothing to do with how op wrote but rather the language itself)
technological··on I made a mistake with Terraform and Azure made it worse
This is exactly what we do also. Apart from prevent destroy, you can also have termination protection enabled on the actual instance. Not sure if azure offers it but aws definitely does
