Unfortunately it does not have magic link fallback when passkeys are not available.
teabee89··on Show HN: Get conversational practice in over 20 languages by talking to an AI
I tried Hungarian. For the 3rd response it switched to Spanish, but with a Hungarian accent which was amusing but I'm not sure that was the intention :D

There's also: Multiple values[1]

"Generalized the result type of blocks and functions to allow for multiple values; in addition, introduced the ability to have block parameters:

- Function types allow more than one result

- Block types can be arbitrary function types"

Somewhat related to this is the excellent presentation "Why greatness cannot be planned: myth of the objective" by Kenneth Stanley which I highly recommend! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXQPL9GooyI
teabee89··on Predict civilization collapse with Python and World3 model
"Could there be limits to growth?" Yes 100% (you cannot extract indefinitely more and more every year from finite resources), the debate is simply when we'll peak for a given ressource (20 years, 100 years, 1 million years) and the size of such an impact on the economy.

Would you mind elaborating? I find him very convincing, but it's not my field.

I would recommend reading/watching Steve Keen's critique of Nordhaus's work (e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwwvZ8g5eHE). Steve Keen is the author of Debunking Economics.
teabee89··on A CO2 capture solvent with exceptionally low total costs of capture
In addition to price, I would like to see, for any CO2 capture tech, the estimated CO2 emission amount with scope 3 accounting (i.e., including the CO2 emitted in the entire supply chain, amortized by the estimated non-infinite lifetime).
teabee89··on Generate Flowcharts from Text
This is really simple but edge from 6 to 1 should not cross node 4 in the visualization. Also it would be useful to show how to escape or if escaping works at all: how to escape ":" or "(1)"? multiline?
teabee89··on C Template Library
In the wiki an int compare(int * , int * ) function [1] is used, which is odd if the elements are not pointers (when P is defined). Shouldn't it be changed to int compare(int, int) when P is defined? I wonder if it impacts at all the benchmarks.

teabee89··on Ask HN: Co-founder wants me to leave but won't entertain a buy out offer
Is there a legal framework that allows company to convert OP's shares into debt to OP and essentially by the debt for $0? The debt would only have to be paid if certain conditions are met.
teabee89··on Ask HN: Co-founder wants me to leave but won't entertain a buy out offer
The company's ownership is divided in shares, also called equity. A cap(italization) table details the distribution of equity. In this example, 40.8% (= 51% * 80%) for founder 1, 39.2% (= 49% * 80%) for founder 2 (assuming it's OP), 10% for investor and 10% for something called options that may be granted in the future to new employees that allows them to buy shares of the company at a low price. 4-year reverse vesting with 1-year cliff means that if one of the founders leaves before 1 year of signing the contract, they are forced to sell at no profit (still, not $0) the entirety of their shares to the other shareholders. After 1 year of staying at the company, they may keep 1/4 of their shares and are forced to sell only the rest. Following that 1 year mark, they earn the right every month at the company to keep ~0.833% (= 40% / 48 as there are 48 months in 4 years) of their shares and forced to sell the rest. At the 4 year mark of staying, they are no longer forced to sell any of the initial set of shares. It does not apply to any future grants for which new conditions or new schedules may apply.

teabee89··on Better Git diff output for Ruby, Python, Elixir, Go
Agreed that AST diff is better, but there's also just better diff algorithms like the lesser-known Tichy diff: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/220439403_The_Strin... that I learned from http://bryanpendleton.blogspot.com/2010/04/more-study-of-dif... ; it seems to preserve more context and is better suited for big code refactors.

teabee89··on MS Flight Simulator 2020 vs. Real life
At Kennedy Space Center, the Space Shuttle simulation was pretty amazing. I believe the trick was to make us think we were sitting at rest at a 90 degree angle, when in fact it must have been less, such that when the shuttle did take off in the simulation the seat made an even higher angle (+ shaking). And the sudden lowering of the angle (when engine cuts off and we're supposed to float) was a pretty damn amazing illusion too. I definitely recommend it.

I was afraid that another AI instance would absorb me. In fact I kept deleting my files (which turned out to be useful) to prevent other AIs to learn from me. Would have been cool to see incoming connections of dumber AIs. Loved the game though, thanks!
teabee89··on Koch is reducing energy consumption of AC Induction Motors by 1/3
Reducing per unit energy consumption (aka increasing energy efficiency) is not only very different from reducing global energy consumption, but it can often lead to an increase in global energy consumption. This is called Jevons paradox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox and is quite an interesting topic.
teabee89··on The U.S. economy is growing and using less and less stuff to do so
I know about energy intensity, and yes it is going down, but not by enough to compensate the growth of consumption, which is the fallacy i'm pointing out. It has another name: Jevons paradox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox
teabee89··on The U.S. economy is growing and using less and less stuff to do so
Dematerialization is the biggest fallacy in the industry. Data centers need energy to run. Buying the latest servers, network equipments, iPhones and more every year or two, requires an enormous amount of energy. GDP is directly correlated with energy, so there is no sign of change: an economy cannot grow without energy. I wish more people understood the economy from a physics standpoint.
