tdkl··on Apple to slice iPhone production 10% due to sluggish sales
iTunes as in software is free. My music is mainly electronic livesets, nothing DRM, so all the streaming services mean nothing to my taste.

This goes both ways.

> Tip!: The Mobile Sync feature requires an active Plex Pass subscription for the main Plex Media Server account.

Paying for being able to transfer files within 1m ? Yeah no. Thanks for the tip though.

With sync I mean full oneway sync with playlists created in the music player. I create a playlist which I'll then listen too in iTunes and with 2 clicks it's fully existing on the phone, with the .m3u playlist file, recognized by the media player. If I add/remove songs, change sorting in that playlist, the result is completely synced on the phone. I didn't find anything simple as this without extra fuckery and praying I can rely on it. It just works.

What's new here ? This was always the case (using foreign hacked boxes to hide your origin) only now we're bombarded by this because of using it for political show.

I'm a Windows user and love iTunes. There's just isn't any piece of software that lets me sync all my selected playlists with a single click via Wifi to Android (iSyncr app) reliably. I can also use a remote to navigate (Retune app) and access whole library.

Too bad there's no other contenders on Linux as well, there's a million players, but no syncing because apparently it makes more sense in 2016 to sync a song with uploading it to an other computer (teh cloud™) then download it back instead of copying it locally within 1m of proximity.

Surely it has grown into a behemoth with managing iPhones, online Music etc., but one can simply not use that.

tdkl··on Some Google Pixel devices shutting down at 30% battery
In 2014 you had Kitkat, which was the last "good" Android release. The L (and future) are just horrible with memory and they don't care, since most of the devices now are 2GB+.
tdkl··on Some Google Pixel devices shutting down at 30% battery
And that's probably because they don't want to include the Reboot option in the power menu [1].

Wire also recently added an username feature[1], where you choose a certain username and don't need to disclose your name or phone number for others to find you on it. This replaced looking up contacts per e-mail.

More people should watch the movie "Das Leben der Anderen"[1], how Stasi thoroughly bugged the living places of people dangerous to "state security".

Now they're buying them for being too lazy.

> Apple hasn't made a really revolutionary product since Jobs died.

It's more about regression for cosmetic reasons then not being revolutionary. There's potential with development of newer hardware and yet they use it to make slimmer devices and with less ports. Smaller motherboard ? Instead of slimming the shell, make it thicker and use the rest for batteries. 50 hour battery laptop, now that's revolutionary.

tdkl··on Depressed children respond differently to rewards than other kids
> So what makes non-depressed kids more smitten?

That they're receptive to BS tests and more easily manipulated ?

> What's interesting is that there is a differentiation between the two, not which is the 'right' way to behave.

Interesting ? Of course there's a differentiation between the two, human brains don't operate the same.

But my point was with the common popular notion of claiming someone as depressed as something being notoriously bad with them and "not normal". What if the 'depressive realism' (as mentioned in this thread) is actually a feature that humans should develop to more rationally meet their choices in life? Now that's a question I find more interesting.

The dev had a giveaway of lifetime licenses then changed his mind because of fallen revenue and set those licenses to expire after a year. Nothing was taken from customers who bought the app. I rather did see this happening then service shutting down or implementing a subscription fee instead.

Lifetime license otherwise costs 3$ for up to 5 active devices at the same time, so it's quite cheap. I bought it 4 years ago and used in on about 5 different Android phones, you can remove older unused devices to keep the limit down.

The main difference between this and other solutions or Android Device Manager is functionality to control the device over SMS commands. Because ADM is useless when the device doesn't have internet connectivity. Even when someone takes out your SIM and inserts another, Cerberus notifies you about the new SIM and sends you the number of it, so you can control the device over the new number.

You can also flash a disguised version (the app will have the name "System Framework" and a stock Android icon)[1].

After that you can set it to be run only with a specific number entered in the phone dialer, so the shortcut isn't visible in the app drawer.

You have to really know about Cerberus to find it, or be knowledgeable to re-flash the device when you steal it. That's what it makes it a very good anti-theft app.

Or "depressed" children simply aren't smitten by simple artificial gifts.

tdkl··on My Pixel has a manufacturing defect
> So, here's Google accusing a guy --who is doing 7 figures a year with his real business-- of clicking some ads to earn, what, twenty-three cents?

The first problem here is that it's the automation/AI in Google doing these calls. The second one is the question where the fuck are the humans monitoring automation/AI actions ?

So no thanks Google, you can't convince me getting into your AI fairy-tale fueled products in the future.

tdkl··on My Pixel has a manufacturing defect
Isn't there a burden of proof to claim the device was dropped ? If there's no visible damage from a supposed impact, then any company can just use this as an excuse.
