well, depends on how rich you are
tcfhgj··on Writing Efficient C++ Code (2013)
the CCG isn't from the committee, but from Bjarne Stroustrup and Herb Sutter.

Bjarne is often in disagreement with the committee

are you sure?

how many black holes have been created by particle accelerators in the past?

Not to mention the insurmountable amount of ads
tcfhgj··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
So far I have broken every Linux distro I used except NixOS.

And if I were to break it, i could just reboot into the previous system snapshot.

And I haven't read 1000 pages of docs - from my experience id doubt it even has that many docs.

AI generated code is allowed on Codeberg, but not if it's mostly ai generated

tcfhgj··on F-Droid 2.0
it's beyond me why someone who uses F-Droid would consider an phone from Apple
tcfhgj··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
Cancer is the smallest problem when bigger areas become inhabitable, and food inedible.
tcfhgj··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
I am pretty sure anyone could make nuclear work by throwing lots of money around
tcfhgj··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
If nuclear is such a big cash cow, why is edf in huge debts, state owned and suffering from aged power plants having issues?
tcfhgj··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
I am pretty sure I understood quite well.

> Well, go for it, fork and "provide support" to the hardware hostile to non-stock OS, be a hero :)

tcfhgj··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
I didn't insinuate hostility of every vendor except Google.
tcfhgj··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
smartphones aside pixel like Fairphone do explicitly allow alternative OS, definitely cannot pretend they are hostile
tcfhgj··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
it isn't really overhead, assuming you don't forget defer ... accidentally
tcfhgj··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
extra code meaning the drop implementation or something else?
tcfhgj··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
Why not though?

Have a boxed object have implemented drop, then when the box leaves some scope the Box will clean up it's stuff (drop implementation if there is any) and deallocate it's memory using the allocator (which the arena will treat as noop).

tcfhgj··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
correct, but it is desirable
tcfhgj··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
not mandatory

tcfhgj··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
why shouldn't they? humanity consumes more resources than is sustainable, and systems languages can help to reduce resource consumption.

hostile to non-stock OS - where are you getting this from?
tcfhgj··on Android 17 is the first since 3.x to add new APIs without releasing to the AOSP
they can, but don't want to
tcfhgj··on Flet 1.0 – Build cross-platform apps in Python
JavaScript is way more ubiquitous thanks to Electron, which is not so great for the end users.

I have little experience, but I somehow doubt that Python will improve a lot regarding resource usage compared to Electron... but great if it works for you.

tcfhgj··on Flet 1.0 – Build cross-platform apps in Python
> In this day and age I honestly wouldn't worry much about app size though given how much storage devices have.

Are you serious?

Do you think people buy more storage just for fun?

I definitely don't buy it for devs to go YOLO
