Just ditch a book you’re not into. Life’s too short. I’m trying to write a book and I would hope a reader that isn’t into my book would just abandon it early
You wouldn’t though. And that’s part of the allure. Someone doing something transgressive that the rest of us wouldn’t, and (sometimes) making something beautiful. I certainly wouldn’t give the label superhero. But it can be interesting.
If solutions always come first then you might never get a chance to vent. Maybe venting clears the annoyance from the brain enough to make it easier to understand any solutions that might be offered. Also sometimes I have been offered solutions that seem obvious to me, like did you really think I hadn’t thought of that? Which is especially piquing haha
You only need a few pictures to fill a profile. Taking a few snaps when doing interesting stuff likely spread over months or years isn’t “documenting every second of our lives”.
Literally no tolerance? I always figured that like everything else, there’s a cost/benefit analysis to be done, and you try and tweak enforcement levels to the point where it gives decent results without costing the earth. No law is enforced with literally no tolerance in practice.
Sort of interesting, yes. But it’s human nature to put more effort into something you might have some influence over rather than something you don’t. Possibly doing more of the former could lead to the latter being more feasible
What does “no open borders” mean here? I’ve seen this term used but I don’t quite get it. Surely it can’t mean completely closing the borders? I.e. literally nobody can enter the country, ever.
You can get earplugs that only lower the sound quality a tiny bit these days. I bought some from the drum shop and they’re great. As you say, $20 or so to avoid lifetime ear damage is a very very good investment. I feel like concerts aren’t quite so loud these days too, maybe audio gear quality is better and the sound engineers don’t feel the need to turn it up quite so loud.
I just had a conversation with free chatgpt about when a sports game started. Chatgpt got it hilariously wrong, like a time it couldn't possibly be given the other things I know about the game. I just didn't want to trawl through search results to find out, so thought AI could be a nice shortcut. Mistake, I guess. Then I tried to tell it how and why it was wrong, with further hilariously wrong attempts to respond from the AI. I couldn't help but give a few more pointless clarifying replies, even though I knew I would get nothing out of it and the AI would learn nothing. I seem to do this every month or so and then get frustrated with how useless it is and then swear off it for another month.
The problem is if the system leads to demotivating people more than motivating them on average, which risks a negative feedback loop where people demotivate each other further and so on
Well, I think in this example someone else wrote down “buy milk”. Of course I would generally know what that’s likely to mean, and not buy the ridiculous thing. But someone from a culture that’s not used to using milk could easily get confused and buy the wrong thing, to further the example. I guess my point was that it’s never possible to completely unambiguously define when a task is done without assuming some amount of shared knowledge with the person completing the task that lets them figure out what you meant and fill in any gaps
Still ironic. Just so you know I might have considered what you said and changed my mind, but being rude made me dismiss you immediately. Just sharing my opinion
