tbossanova··on How to talk to anyone and why you should
Yeah but if everyone follows that then nobody ever talks to anyone “random” ever. The key is to just not be creepy. Some little low stakes thing that can just end easily if they don’t want to chat. “Such a long wait for this bus. Should have brought a book.” If you get a brief response, fine, end of conversation. Otherwise, then you can chat.

Congratulations. I hate both of them. Maybe I’m old but the podcast style of “there might be some interesting information here, but let me tease it for ages with a voice that makes you think something interesting is about to happen…” No sir, I don’t like it

What kind of value do you get from talking to it about “sensitive” subjects? Speaking as someone who doesn’t use AI, so I don’t really understand what kind of conversation you’re talking about
tbossanova··on America has a tungsten problem
Might be able to run a tank on battery one day. Fighter jet seems harder though
tbossanova··on America has a tungsten problem
Individual EUers might care about the environment. It’s pretty hard to personally avoid any dirty imported stuff as you just don’t know where it all ends up. Though I guess overall voting patterns might back up your argument
tbossanova··on Omega-3 is inversely related to risk of early-onset dementia
Right, and I assume if you’re not extracting oil you’d have to eat some impossibly large amount to get a meaningful amount of omega 3

We’ve maintained full employment in some sense, but importantly we work fewer hours per week for fewer years of our lives than before.
tbossanova··on Waymo seeking about $16B near $110B valuation
In the past when automation displaced many jobs, we did things like raise the age kids could stay in school. There used to be huge numbers of e.g. 14 year olds who previously would be expected to go to work that would now have the opportunity to stay in school. Kind of like a mini UBI as in the transition period they would usually get given food, healthcare etc at least minimally. What’s the equivalent now?
