tbomb··on Coin
in their FAQ it says that the coin can only hold 8 cards at a time, but the app can store an unlimited amount. So I assume that you'd have to sync the one(s) you want to use via mobile app (I'd hope) that you'd already have stored, then select it via toggle button on the card. It makes it sound kind of cumbersome for that purpose. I do like the overall idea though, I think its really cool and hope they succeed!

I think what he means is this: When I'm tired from snowboarding, skateboarding, or really any of the extreme sports they sponsor; Do I feel like grabbing a Red Bull, or do I want water (and 5 minutes to catch my breath)?
tbomb··on Two Providers of Secure E-Mail Shut Down
he risked his life in in the way that he may be placed in jail for a while. I don't think anyone is suggesting that he may be killed over a destroyed server.
tbomb··on Maybe buses should be free
Here in Miami we have a free trolley (school bus size) system that extends along the greater downtown areas and some of the northern and southern suburbs. They are extremely clean and I VERY rarely see homeless on it (we have a rather large population too), I've been picked up at stops where homeless, also waiting (or trying to sleep), people didn't even attempt to get on board. In contrast, our free light rail system is full of homeless. they just ride all day 'cause its air conditioned and unmanned with few security patrols (they mainly utilize cameras on board and at stations). Perhaps this case maybe the solution is for a harsh rule system and driver enforcement, if they're too dirty/smelly don't let them on, and/or kick them off after X number of stops. I'm not sure what the policies are here, I base my assumptions on the way I've seen driver yell at patrons to pick up their trash etc. it seems like they actually care about the trolley.
tbomb··on Hacker News is depressing
But you can be honest about a bad/terrible idea without being and asshole about it. I thrive on the criticism I get from others and look forward to speaking with people who think my ideas are no good, as long as they can explain their reasoning. There's a world of difference between "Your idea sucks." and "Your idea sucks because,"

It was still said in a condescending fashion. Implying that if you cant make the 60fps club you should go work a lower level job.

Theoretically your career should start in college.

I know that many people don't end up in the same field that they studied in college. However, the goal of college is to teach specialization to a field. This is why there are narrow majors such as engineering disciplines [mechanical, civil, computer], business disciplines [accounting, management, finance, marketing], education, etc.. Maybe this should be aimed a little lower to high school seniors/college freshmen, so it will set them up on the career path to pursue once they graduate.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: grammar
