taneem··on You can't trust Amazon Underground
No it does not. It only requires usage tracking to pay the developer for time used.
taneem··on Holiday Gift Ideas from Y Combinator
It would be fairer to the companies at the bottom of the list if you had the list randomly resort itself with each page load, instead of being rendered in alphabetical order.
taneem··on Introducing Hello
I think the biggest challenge to this is Facebook itself (and other messaging/social apps). How many millennials make phone calls frequently to more than 5-10 close people any more? Everyone just uses messaging or social apps to stay in touch.

I don't need this to give me social context to my wife or my parents etc. calling me. The value of this is really to people that are not that close, where Facebook can surface relevant data that I don't have at the top of my mind - but I rarely communicate with those people via phone calls any more.

That's fair. I was perhaps speculating more about my own personal experiences that were more skewed to the fine-grained layer.

This feels pretty high level. Knowing that we want to build the most profound feature for the most number of users is not very controversial. But there are many ambiguities about how you measure profoundness. There are many things that I could fill up my time working on each day all in the name of building profound things - e.g. do I build this feature, do I refactor, do I do customer interviews etc.

In my experience, teams always struggle with that level of decision making, and the problems stem from optimizing for the wrong tasks, even if someone is overall agreed on what the "most important" metric is.

taneem··on Wikipedia in unseen UI
Take a look at Wikiwand - http://www.wikiwand.com/. IMO a better implementation of the same concept. Not to discourage you as I think there is still plenty of room to do more with this, especially when you start thinking about expanding this beyond Wikipedia.

But some of the basics you have in place right now like the pagination simply do not work.

What's the difference between this and Popcorn Time?
taneem··on Show HN: Reach more people with a Share-to-Gmail-contacts button
Even if I did want to share something with all my contacts on Gmail, the other challenge is that Gmail considers EVERYONE you have ever emailed a "contact". That's hundreds and hundreds of people, old mailing lists, etc. etc. that are on there. It's not a "contact list", it's a list of everyone I have ever contacted.
taneem··on LVMH exec: Apple Watch 'too feminine and looks like designed by students'
Reminds me of the dismissive comments that leaders at Microsoft and BlackBerry made at the first iPhone debut back in 2007. We all know how that ended...
taneem··on RainLoop Webmail: Simple, modern and fast web-based email client
This is very promising. Ever since Gmail for domains and Outlook for domains became paid-only, I've been looking for alternatives. This looks like potentially a perfect solution.
taneem··on Show HN: I love weird socks and I'm finally launching my lifestyle business
This feels more like a blog than a quirky site that sells socks. You need a couple of things fixed:

1. Front page needs to be clearer about what you are offering. The socks themselves are not directly described, the cost sort of shows up in the wall of text below, and the call to action buttons are small. The option to actually view the socks is hard to find at the top bar

2. The sock gallery page needs a lot more work. I can't seem to click to actually see more images. Why are the images themselves so completely boring? Take some filtery pictures, take pictures of you wearing your socks, I don't know, SOMETHING. You're only selling a small range, this really shouldn't be a problem. Remove whatever php 2002 gallery code you're using and build something more image friendly that's less about lists. We live in the age of pinterest.

3. When you fix your gallery, replace your front page with it.

4. I think your actual product has a lot of potential, although I don't think your socks are particularly quirky enough. For example I don't see what's so special about the May pair (maybe because I can't click to actually look at it in detail). I want a pair of socks that has Captain Picard and Darth Vader having a fist fight.
