True, but what if a third party existed to measure and compare other metrics that users would actually care about across popular platforms?
These days, we default to
"Day 3,449: google's still broken. what was i thinking?"
Hating on AI or its CEO doesn't seem very risky or controversial (for now [0])
While it's sometimes a positive indication, non-profit status does not automatically guarantee "good"
Is it, though?
Wouldn't it be more strange if the former didn't eventually lead to the latter?
The degree of it is not.

No it isn't.
The biggest key imo is captured media (and more recently, social media), which has indeed been happening for decades. This leads to uninformed voters and manufactured arguments, groupthink, and tribal narrowmindedness, allowing the two parties of capital interests to remain dominant. Voters cave too easily to the "lesser of two evils" thinking, hence the race to the bottom where only capital interests win. The primary process is a complete joke where the dominant parties have full control over it and blatantly manipulate it (or skip it entirely like we saw recently), and running under a third party is suicide.
However, don't be fooled into thinking we just need >2 viable parties, as the same fundamental problems can easily scale if the other sources of corruption (media) remain. We see this in the UK etc.
Election fraud itself is probably not a very big factor in most cases. With all of the above, it doesn't need to be.
Only when they aren't totally co-opted by capital interests and everything they own, including media/social media.
We haven't had democratic elections for decades. Just illusion of choice in a race to the bottom.

Also probably because many of us were social rejects growing up. I recall my entire CS graduating class being way more accepting of people different from them as a result.
Of course, many people don't like the recurring PT appointments, nor do they like hearing that you need to continue the exercises to some degree even after the sessions end. But I've incorporated them into my regular workouts, and a year later have completely functional shoulders. Best of luck.

The biggest problem is that we're conditioned by a paradigm that frames these as problems.
And it's how Democrats have a reputation for being the "wrongly victimized underdog / misunderstood savior" despite actual evidence to the contrary, because the general population doesn’t understand that economics runs on a time delay.
Yet complaining about the complaining somehow adds something?
Not all of it. Plus, we could say the same thing about the typical worker at the average modern company. Google's product graveyard is a popular example of this. Resume padding, job hopping and ladder climbing are the norm now. In that respect, I can see why you're so pessimistic about the average human.
Much of the dedication often found in modern FLOSS is reminiscent of how companies used to operate: valued employees actually believed in the shared mission they were all striving for, and they took pride in their work as a result.
Considering who owns it, it'd be weird if they didn't want a carefully curated echo chamber of sanitized thought.
FLOSS invalidates that statement.
Many people are happy to contribute to something greater than themselves. They also happily acknowledge they're standing on the shoulders of giants.

That assumes the company's behavior is rooted in ineptitude rather than malice, which is too generous at this point.
