surgical_fire··on Pnpm 12.0
On the rare occasions I used Word to write things in the past, it would replace dashes with em-dash.

I normally use dashes when writing, never bothered myself with writing an em-dash properly otherwise.

I am where I want to be.

I also have no desire to return.

I had never heard of this.

I always sort of hated social networks. Even the ones I eventually participated in, such as Reddit or HN (although I tend to see those more as forums).

I navigated a bit on textlog, and I found it strangely compelling. I will give it ia shot.

My labor allowed me to buy my house.

If anything, I was heavily underpaid.

Maybe.

Thankfully I don't live in the US, and likely won't set foot there ever again.

Reminder for me to make another donation.

Piracy is morally justified at this point.

You are asking the wrong question.

There's no end game. They just really hate life and the living. They want you to suffer.

surgical_fire··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Oh apologies.

What they call food across the pond is actually trash, and I would be disgusted if we allowed that to be served to humans on our side.

surgical_fire··on Iranian hackers shut down UK power plant for 4 days
It's more that a lot of people stopeed being swooned by US propaganda, and woke up to the fact that the US is a malicious actor and have been for decades, conducting much worse things on foreign soil than hacks.

I, personally, have a lot more mistrust towards the US than I have towards Iran. Mostly because Iran has very limited power to affect me negatively.

Let me try to explain

"Neurotypical syndrome is a neurobiological disorder characterized by preoccupation with social concerns, delusions of superiority, and obsession with conformity.”

“My brain is a jewel. I am in awe of the mind that I have.”

surgical_fire··on Anthropic appears to be A/B testing reduced effort levels in Claude Code
Not surprising in the slightest, Claude sort of sucks. I use it at work and I have to steer it a lot so it doesn't stray looking at unnecessary shit.

I have been using GLM-5.3 in my home setup and it is very good in comparison.

surgical_fire··on Anthropic appears to be A/B testing reduced effort levels in Claude Code
There are more than 3.

Hell, I use 3 different providers, and I currently don't give a dime to Anthropic or OpenAI.

surgical_fire··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
That is not a trade barrier, that is just what you call "food" across the pond is actually trash.
surgical_fire··on New MCP Roadmap
Depends on the thing.

I had to give maintenance to things people deployed to pad their resumes with "shiny new thing", and it was not fun.

If you intend to deploy and leave that as legacy for some poor shlemiel, sure.

If you intend to stay and actually keep things running, it's much better to use tried and tested stuff.

surgical_fire··on GPT 5.6 Sol 20% price reduction
I only bet when among friends. Nothing against you, I just do not know you personally.

But I am waiting patiently for their S1. It will provide ample entertainment.

surgical_fire··on GPT 5.6 Sol 20% price reduction
My point is that it requires a lot of willful blindness to ignore how unprofitable they are, to believe that they are in any way in the position of sustainably lowering prices.
surgical_fire··on GPT 5.6 Sol 20% price reduction
OpenAI bleeds money. They need to keep raising money like crazy because of that.

Their margins are obviously not high, particularly on subscriptions

surgical_fire··on Bringing the cybersecurity capabilities of Claude Mythos 5 to more defenders
You're free to speculate and pretend you had some insight.
surgical_fire··on Bringing the cybersecurity capabilities of Claude Mythos 5 to more defenders
I definitely did. I was talking about how in a world where open models exist and are very much capable, Anthropic is sort of a joke.

You asked if that is true, and speculated about mythos.

Uninterested in speculating about mythos, I explained why it is irrelevant anyway.

This was a successul conversation.

surgical_fire··on Bringing the cybersecurity capabilities of Claude Mythos 5 to more defenders
Which is why I actually used all those models.

At work I am stuck with Claude because it is what the employer provides.

In my home setup I use a combination of different models; mostly GLM-5.3, DS-V4-Flash, and MiMo-2.5-pro.

I vastly prefer my home setup.

surgical_fire··on Bringing the cybersecurity capabilities of Claude Mythos 5 to more defenders
For their IPO they better fast forward to Claude Apocalypse 7.

With how unsustainable they are they really need to hype up those bagholders.

surgical_fire··on Bringing the cybersecurity capabilities of Claude Mythos 5 to more defenders
> Is it, though?

Yes, it truly is.

Open models are extremely capable, as benchmark after benchmark has indicated.

Beyond that, for the vast majority of software development (including cybersecurity), the open models are there already. All that without having to pay the hefty Anthropic premium, not to mention all their bullshit with pretending their model is some sort of WMD and their awful uptime (although, to their credit, they seem more stable than Github).

I cannot fathom why anyone uses their service.

surgical_fire··on Bringing the cybersecurity capabilities of Claude Mythos 5 to more defenders
In a world where things such as GLM-5.3, DeepSeek-V4-Pro-0813, and Kimi-K3 exists, this is a bit laughable.

Anthropic needs some model with a fancy name so they can pretend for another while that their model is so powerful it will destroy the world if released. I propose Claude Legend 6.

surgical_fire··on Feature Request: Support AGENTS.md
Ironically, I think Claude Code is shit, especially after I started to get used to Pi.

It has a sort of first mover advantage, but I wouldn't be surprised if basically any harness is superior to that crap.

surgical_fire··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
To add to this; payment infrastructure requires a lot of heavy lifting. There's a lot of regulations you need to adhere to, different payment systems in different countries, settlement, chargebacks, etc.

There is a reason why not doing your own payment processing is a thing.

OpenRouter may have some interesting things in streamlining the process of switching LLM providers, but it is indeed something easy to replicate in comparison to payment processing.

surgical_fire··on India has paved the way for charging merchants a fee on UPI transactions
> approved by your elected government.

Fixed it for you. You had left some extraneous quotation marks there.

Either way, while governments should not get free pass and should be scrutinized by its citizens, we definitely should not allow corporations with ties to hostile governments (such as the case of Visa and Mastercard) any oversight of payment infrastructure.

I love beef. I absolutely adore cheese, and I would be unfathomably sad to never again taste a nice piece of Gorgonzola.

But I know that the meat and dairy industry are hellish for the environment. You don't need to win me in that argument, I accepted that already.

But that's the catch - either we are all in this together, or we will burn in this oven-earth of our making. There's no between. I am not becoming vegan just to die scorched anyway because meat and dairy were still subsidized and consumed.

Governments are surprisingly good to set proper incentives when they want. It could make beef and dairy economically ruinous with taxes instead of forbidding. Consumption would lower dramatically the moment a striploin beef is costing 30 bucks.

If society needs several environmental catastrophes to wake up, then I can only hope I see the other side of it.
