superchink··on State of Bootstrap 4 vs. Foundation
Both Bootstrap and Foundation support using their styles with SASS mixins, so you can create your own semantic classes, rather than slapping their classes on your markup.

See an example here: http://v4-alpha.getbootstrap.com/layout/grid/#sass-mixins

superchink··on Running costs for Candy Japan
Sorry, used wrong URL. Should be here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11054077
superchink··on U of Toronto Acquires the World's Largest Collection of Chinese Restaurant Menus
The comment about the first image [1] was confusing to me:

"The text is a mix of English words written in a style reminiscent of Cantonese."

Does the author even have a clue what he's saying?

superchink··on Django CMS 3.2 released
Sorry, I realize I can research this myself—and plan to—but do you happen to have any references where I might learn about the differences in approach between Wagtail and Django CMS?

Thanks in advance!

superchink··on Show HN: Bort.io – Web application for website bookmarks and search
Not quite what you're asking for, but have you checked out Pinboard (https://pinboard.in)?
superchink··on GitHub supports Universal 2nd Factor authentication
Can confirm that this worked! This should be the top post.

Thanks for the tip.

superchink··on El Capitan and Homebrew
Homebrew does not advocate installing things as root. You can read more about it here: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/share/doc/h...
superchink··on How Hacker News and FreshDesk led me to quit my job and launch my own startup
Is there a mirror for this? Or has the URL changed? I am getting a 404…
superchink··on Just doesn’t feel good
I think—maybe?—his thesis is based on a flawed assumption: that for advertisements to be a "good user experience" they need to be native and served by the site themselves. I think—maybe?—that ad networks can exist in such a way that they continue to provide outsourced services to sites, without being obnoxious.

Is this impossible?

superchink··on How the F.B.I. Made 'Winners Don't Use Drugs' the Arcade Motto of the '90s
Those screens gave me an instant hit of nostalgia. Sort of a fluff piece, but an interesting blip in history. Thanks for sharing.
superchink··on Gotty – Share your terminal as a web application
Can I ask for more detail explaining your aversion to homebrew? Just curious…
superchink··on Gestimer – For little reminders during the day
Can you clarify what you mean? On OS X, the menubar volume control doesn't seem to have a similar interaction model. I.e., I can't click/drag to change the volume. I have to click, then click on the little control to move the slider. Is this not what you meant?

superchink··on A Guide to the Regional Ramen of Japan
I haven't yet tried it, but this place has a version of Japanese-style dan dan mien. Not sure about varieties or quality though…

A second to greggman's rec of Tsujita, as well. They have excellent tsukemen (dipping ramen). Across the street, their second location, Tsujita Annex, has really good tsukemen and their ramen is excellent too, if ridiculously filling.

superchink··on Python Social Auth
Sorry, dumb question: why is this on HN today? Was there some major change in a recent release? Or is it just that the OP just discovered it?

I have no objection to either reason; I just want to make sure I didn't miss it if there were a major update that added new functionality.

superchink··on Dateparser: Python parser for human readable dates
So quick question to anyone who's used this lib. The README cites an example: it can give you the date for text like: '1 min ago', '2 weeks ago', '3 months, 1 weeks and 1 day ago', etc

Does it handle proper grammar for singular values (i.e., 1 week vs. 1 weeks)?

superchink··on Show HN: Javelin Browser
Yes, this was what I was referencing. Thanks for clarifying. I didn't mean to imply it was a good thing to do.
superchink··on Show HN: Javelin Browser
@nubela Sounds like an opportunity to negotiate revenue for inclusion in an optional (for users) whitelist.
superchink··on Walgreens Developer APIs
I think you mean Surescripts, rather than AllScripts (EMR vendor).
superchink··on Mapillary: Crowdsourced Street Photos
Hey! I saw someone in a coffee shop in LA working on this. I regretted not asking about it. This looks really cool.
superchink··on Mitro Releases a New Free and Open Source Password Manager
I tried dashlane when it first came out. Pegged my CPU and uninstalled it immediately. I assume it's improved since then, but that was a major turn-off.

superchink··on Hydra 1.0
Makes perfect sense. Thanks for making it not too intrusive; not stealing key focus is a huge "nice guy" move.

License purchased.

superchink··on Hydra 1.0
Great work! Love the fast iteration; been using it since I found it on HN, and can't live without it.

Question: what does the license buy you? Are there limitations on usage or functionality without al license? Apologies if it's explained, but I couldn't find details on the site or github.

superchink··on Virtual DOM in Elm
Off-topic, but are you using the 10.10 DP as your daily OS? If so, would you mind sharing a quick note of your experience? Any show-stopping issues? Better/worse?
superchink··on Inverter
This reminded me of the first native iPhone game back in 2007:

superchink··on Google Shopping Express
As others state, they do not seem to mark up. In fact, sometimes prices are adjusted after placing the order to reflect a discount.
superchink··on Hydra: A lightweight OS X window manager with a powerful API
Might be a good idea sdegutis, to have sample configuration that replicates the setup from Spectacle, Moom, etc., similar to what you did with Zephyros (I think?).
