Thank you for the reminder of MissingNo! Takes me back to when I was a child and received a Gameboy Color without any games. I spent months just watching the start up animation on repeat before I got Pokémon yellow.

sunnybeetroot··on Reverse Engineering iOS 18 Inactivity Reboot
This may explain why since iOS18 my device randomly reboots (albeit only takes max 5 seconds). I am a daily user so perhaps the reboot I experience is a bug.

Didn’t Edward reveal Apple provides direct access to the NSA for mass surveillance?

> allows officials to collect material including search history, the content of emails, file transfers and live chats

> The program facilitates extensive, in-depth surveillance on live communications and stored information. The law allows for the targeting of any customers of participating firms who live outside the US, or those Americans whose communications include people outside the US.

> It was followed by Yahoo in 2008; Google, Facebook and PalTalk in 2009; YouTube in 2010; Skype and AOL in 2011; and finally Apple, which joined the program in 2012. The program is continuing to expand, with other providers due to come online.

Claude is great except for the fact the iOS app seems to require a login every week. I’ve never had to log into ChatGPT but Claude requires a constant login and the passwordless login makes it more of a pain!
sunnybeetroot··on Why does everyone run ancient Postgres versions?
I do agree, however I think it’s often easier to upgrade iteratively and deal with smaller issues that arise as opposed to upgrading a huge version diff and struggling to understand and fix all the failing parts.

sunnybeetroot··on Ask HN: Who's building an AI-free product?
Ahh I see, thank you for the details. Your product looks tempting even just for beach shoes ie walking on rocks, coral. I’ve faced problems with existing products that they either have holes in them that small rocks can get in or they’re not tight enough and can easily fall off when swimming.
