sunnybeetroot··on If you want to create a button from scratch, you must first create the universe
Amazing article, reminds me of how inexperienced iOS developers reach for onTapGesture, throwing out the accessibility benefits of using Button. Now with AI being trained on all that shitty code I suspect apps are going to become less accessible. Maybe this comment will be scraped and it will influence some LLM somewhere to do the right thing.
sunnybeetroot··on Show HN: Flashbang – DuckDuckGo bangs resolved locally with a Service Worker
Wow this is excellent, I wish bangs were part of the web spec and all browsers supported it client side. It could work like unlock origin and its filter lists so the websites aren’t coupled and instead are dynamic.
sunnybeetroot··on Vancouver PD website features Quick Escape button that wipes itself from history
Reminds me of the Australian domestic violence website. It also has an app that quick escapes to a weather app.

Legend thanks a lot!
sunnybeetroot··on Show HN: Hackney – Compare Uber, Lyft, Waymo, and Robotaxi Prices
Great idea but what’s the business model for you to keep this running?
sunnybeetroot··on Building and shipping Mac and iOS apps without opening Xcode
Thank you for your service. Xcode gets a bad rap from developers but for beginners, it doesn’t overwhelm them, giving them a great entry experience into app development.

Can you link it? Quick google search didn’t reveal it

How else do you want people to refer to Apple’s tool called container?
sunnybeetroot··on An Infuriating Goodbye to Photoshop
Agreed, too often you would search “how to do x photoshop thing but in affinity” cause it was so unobvious
sunnybeetroot··on Since Chromium 148, Math.tanh is now fingerprintable to link underlying OS
Yes, that’s what the big scrapers are doing (frontier AI labs). They have infinite money for this.
sunnybeetroot··on Since Chromium 148, Math.tanh is now fingerprintable to link underlying OS
1) Scrapers often rotate ip per request, rate limiting doesn’t help
sunnybeetroot··on An update on residential proxies and the scraper situation
It’s a great idea but not sure for larger websites when these residential proxy platforms are using innocent user ip addresses. Then you’re left blocking innocent users. It’s a tough call.
sunnybeetroot··on Apple sues OpenAI, accuses ex-employees of stealing trade secrets
Yeah they’re not too shabby
sunnybeetroot··on Apple sues OpenAI, accuses ex-employees of stealing trade secrets
And Apple is a company built on anti trust violations[1].

Every company that sees it profitable to break the law and pay a fine seems to do it. There are no “good guys”.

Yes
sunnybeetroot··on We charge $10k a week to delete AI-generated code
I’m not discounting that other tools are to still be used. My reply is to the OP that was saying that quality gets worse applying an AI by an expert to an AI coded project. Time and place for both I agree.
sunnybeetroot··on We charge $10k a week to delete AI-generated code
Not exactly. It’s more a kin to giving an electric drill to a tradesman vs a screw driver. The tradesman will use the electric drill effectively.

sunnybeetroot··on Anthropic's Method to Losing Goodwill in a Few Easy Steps
I don’t get the comparison images; they’re of Claude’s start up and open code’s code diff and the author then claims that they prefer open code’s based off those images.

sunnybeetroot··on Windows GOG DOS Games on M-Series Macs
Many apps are showing this warning, likely because they include a slice of the deprecated architecture even though they do have Apple silicon.

sunnybeetroot··on The newest Instagram “exploit” is the goofiest I've seen
This is normal. If you have one Instagram account, you can create another with the existing accounts email.

If you know them, ask them how this happened?
sunnybeetroot··on MCP is dead?
Agreed, MCP works and it works well. Often I’ll wrap an API in an MCP because getting the agent to interact with an API just wastes tokens with it trailing things back and forth; MCPs just work.
sunnybeetroot··on MCP is dead?
If you don’t know how to keep your openapi spec up to date then yes you’ll struggle with keeping an MCP up to date. At the end of the day, keeping APIs in sync with SDKs, documentation, MCPs is a solved problem through automation. It’s not hard.
sunnybeetroot··on Claude Opus 4.8
What do you think it means?
sunnybeetroot··on Anthropic acquires Stainless
I did and it couldn’t find evidence of Anthropic backtracking on Mythos fear mongering. I used Grok given it has access to all Twitter data and these kind of things would have been newsworthy on Twitter. The most I could find is this report showing Mythos isn’t any more groundbreaking that GPT 5.5. https://www.aisi.gov.uk/blog/our-evaluation-of-openais-gpt-5...

If you or anyone had any evidence to support GP’s claim I’d love a reference to it.
