styluss··on C Is Not a Low-level Language (2018)
I'm not sure if it's the appropriate solution but have you looked at higher level abstractions in elixir, like Flow, Broadway, GenStage?
styluss··on Invoking C Code from Golang
Shelling out or RPC calls to a running process
styluss··on You can't download this image
Add -N, --no-buffer Disables the buffering of the output stream. In normal work situations, curl will use a standard buffered output stream that will have the effect that it will output the data in chunks, not necessarily exactly when the data arrives. Using this option will disable that buffering.

and it works

styluss··on Rust Moderation Team Resigns
FYI r/rust also has a mod team

styluss··on Why I Use Nim instead of Python for Data Processing
Closest I can find is https://nimble.directory/pkg/science
styluss··on The pleasure of writing Go
Go is really good and fun to write until you have to care how you write it. Adding sync.Pool, limiting concurrency, these are not some of my favourite things
styluss··on Suez Canal blocked briefly as container ship runs aground
Was blocked
styluss··on Ask HN: To what extent does “shadow suppression” occur on social media?
It's quite common. I worked on two small to medium sized social networks and it was already implemented early on. I was told it was used because of bots and not really to be used in human users.
styluss··on FB messenger silently censoring links, claims they were sent
Just tried sharing one of the links and it worked

Have you tried sccache? https://github.com/mozilla/sccache
styluss··on Metaprogramming in Elixir
Which concepts did you find that the team struggled with?
styluss··on The Rustonomicon
The issue with actix-we wasn't about people badgering the author to remove unsafe and they got tired of it/burned out and tried to find people to take over? I remember that the unsafe code wasn't really necessary with regards to the performance benefit.
styluss··on The Rustonomicon
Definitely this is very common. I've seen static variables with Arc+Mutex and initialised with lazy_static when they're only used once in a single thread, in multiple jobs.
styluss··on Go Developer Survey 2020 Results
if you ask a question in r/reddit (I know it's not officially part of the community) you get answers telling you to google stuff or to "just" check the docs where someone writes a package name.
styluss··on Asdf – An Extendable Version Manager
It manages the version of the database that you run. https://github.com/smashedtoatoms/asdf-postgres
styluss··on Twitter Bots Are a Major Source of Climate Disinformation
Curious if you get a similar result with BotSentinel https://botsentinel.com/

styluss··on Sailor’s Chanties (1906) [pdf]
IIRC it's been trending on TikTok for a couple of weeks
styluss··on The Erlang Rationale (2008) [pdf]
When I did Distributed Systems in Uni, it was in C (huuuge mess) and when I visited another Uni, they joked that they taught the course in Java, because "we're not savages".

I keep thinking how much more we could've actually learned about DS if we weren't fighting fires with C.

styluss··on Split Keyboard for Professionals
> The only complaints... Not from me, but when I am on web meetings, I have to be on mute, because everyone finds the KB noise too loud when I am typing...

I was in a similar situation with my pok3r keyboard. I started to lower the microphone volume and people stopped complaining ymmv

styluss··on Ask HN: How to nab and block a creepy user?
rate limiting by ip, force recaptcha, shadow banning the user
styluss··on Ask HN: What is the real difference between Terraform and Ansible?
Terraform is a declarative way of setting up your cloud infrastructure. You specify the state you want your cloud to be in.

Ansible is an imperative way of setting up your cloud. You tell it to do certain things, install this package, copy this over there.

Hope it helps

styluss··on Why swearing is good for you
I thought you were going to post a segment from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fry%27s_Planet_Word wherein there is a part where there is a test on resisting physical pain between Brian Blessed and Stephen Fry. The point is people who swear a lot seem to have a lower pain threshold.
