stiltzkin··on R/Java bans Kevin Bourrillion because he mentioned another programming language
He was unbanned because who he is, any other person they wouldn't care.
stiltzkin··on R/Java bans Kevin Bourrillion because he mentioned another programming language
Reddit is highly censored and can get you banned easily unlike X.
stiltzkin··on R/Java bans Kevin Bourrillion because he mentioned another programming language
This is relevant and many do not use Reddit.

Try Lighting in Nostr or Stacker News.
stiltzkin··on Bitcoin is dead, but it was a good try
Gee I wonder why Blackrock did Bitcoin ETF then.
stiltzkin··on Raspberry Pi 5
Redditors learning resources are clickbait headlines and bot echo chambers.

Gaming community made Discord on their liking, a better response to old VoIP software or Skype.
stiltzkin··on Discord monetization: microtransaction stores and paid 'exclusive memes'
That is a topic already discussed in Discourse Meta, I seconded to use Open ID.

stiltzkin··on Removed as moderator of /r/Celebrities after over 14 years
I was banned at r/beer because I critize Bud Light marketing, also the mod told me he did not like my Reddit Avatar.
stiltzkin··on Jellyfin: Free software media system
I still have Jellyfin as a secondary choice, Plex experience is still painless specially remote play and sharing media.
stiltzkin··on Louis Rossmann calls community to leave Reddit
I see the opposite, older traditional forums are pain to use.
stiltzkin··on Reddit’s blackout protest is set to continue indefinitely
Twitter is still working fine, even community notes are a huge welcome.
stiltzkin··on Reddit’s blackout protest is set to continue indefinitely
HN is already in Eternal September for a while. 10 years ago HN was different.
stiltzkin··on Reddit Doubles Down
Now people use native clients and none of the alternatives have a good one even compared to the official Reddit client
stiltzkin··on Reddit Doubles Down
I used to read Digg heavily and joined the exodus to Reddit after, I think the outcome was similar but back then Reddit was popular enough and it had no power mod problems as Digg, also transitioning was easier because it was just web version and no native client. This time a third client alone as Apollo can make people go away.
stiltzkin··on Show HN: Zsync, a Reddit Alternative with the Goal to Reward Quality Comments
Did you just realize HN is anti-crypto?
stiltzkin··on Show HN: Non.io, a Reddit-like platform Ive been working on for the last 4 years
Stacker News has succesfully use satoshis instead of fake internet points.
stiltzkin··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Reddit
There is no a one for all alternative to Reddit. There are few promising tech as Lemmy or Kbin because they work with ActivityPub as Mastodon. What I have seen many don't like the free speech nature of ActivityPub and run away if they see a tech with an instance not of their liking.

But Reddit tipping point started because most of 3rd party clients are closing as Apollo, none of current alternatives have a good client as Reddit clients.

There are few centralized alternatives you can look up as Tildes, Lobsters and stacker news (focused on Bitcoin and Nostr).

Stacker News dev is working on on a Reddit like with Nostr called outer.space.
stiltzkin··on Reddit bans subreddit detailing how to move to competitor Kbin
Tildes has stated they are not looking to be a Reddit alternative. They want to be narrow and deep in conversation so no images posts and porn. Also Reddit and HN has privacy issues.
stiltzkin··on Reddit is Fun will shut down on June 30th in response to Reddit API changes
What I know Tildes does not want to be a full Reddit replacement. I do find their model of moderation better than Reddit. I have already seen some Reddit mods asking about moderating communities in Tildes.
stiltzkin··on Reddit is Fun will shut down on June 30th in response to Reddit API changes
Best I found is Tildes, it is invite only and a small community as Reddit used to be years ago focusing on quality conversations. There has been a high influx of new users there.

People also recommend Lemmy but UX I do not like it and it lacks a good client.

stiltzkin··on Reddit is Fun will shut down on June 30th in response to Reddit API changes
Reddit is astroturfed and censored by the American government. Reddit is like Twitter of social aggregators.
stiltzkin··on Reddit is Fun will shut down on June 30th in response to Reddit API changes
There are already smaller social agregators to move as HN, Stacker News, Lobsters, Tildes and the biggest one Lemmy.

Discord already added forum categories, this is their chance if they add something similar.

stiltzkin··on Apollo will close down on June 30th
In the thread he said he rather let it die because he is already tired.
