Yeah .io definitely has that "coolness" factor right now. Nice landing page BTW. How are you liking launchrock?

Ah an interesting segment we didn't really consider (parents driving others' kids). Thanks for the feedback and would you mind if we could ask you follow up questions in the future?

Thanks for the tip! And as-needed usage is an interesting idea -- definitely something we'll discuss.
stevenklein··on Ask HN: I've read JS Definitive Guide, Good Parts. What next?
Thanks so much everyone for your input. For anyone interested, I asked some people on Twitter and got the following responses.

@rmurphey (Rebecca Murphey): @stevenklein JavaScript Patterns and Object Oriented JavaScript would be next on my list

@thomasfuchs (Thomas Fuchs): @stevenklein http://javascriptrocks.com/performance/ :)

@paul_irish (Paul Irish): @stevenklein what rmurphey said and also zakas's high perf js

Touche.
stevenklein··on Does "You are what you eat" apply to developing?
With regard to side projects, the most important category for me is a "the work is challenging" and "time is budgeted for ideas and thoughts". If I'm going to take up a side project, it's not going to be for money. I'd rather learn a new skill or get better at something I already do.
stevenklein··on Ask HN: My web startup is growing fast what next?
It's really to comment on things like an office, raising money, growing the team, doing more customer development, etc. without knowing much (if anything) about your situation. I do have just one quick comment though -- you mentioned the speed of your site being a factor pretty early on. There are many factors that go into a user's overall experience but perceived speed of your site is a HUGE one. Don't let that be an issue for you right now as it can severely impede your growth.
stevenklein··on Turn off the clock on your menu bar
Something that I would add to that is have someone you trust change your Facebook password (for the day, the week, until the weekends, however long). If you're like me, it's not uncommon to log in ~5-10 times a day just for a quick check. Doing so interrupts your flow the same way diverting your attention to an upcoming event does. However, when you get in the habit of not even being able to check it, that distraction disappears from your life.
