stevenalowe··on AI Tops Christian Artist Charts on iTunes
First it was Country, now Christian, what’s the next worst genre to conquer?
stevenalowe··on Trump aims to eliminate income tax by end of term
First paragraph puts the mail in the coffin of this idea:

“Offsetting the revenue from individual income taxes would require over $2.5 trillion a year in tariff collections, more than 10 times what the government actually took in during the last fiscal year”

stevenalowe··on Why not make all software compatible with all other software?
And perfect knowledge of the future
stevenalowe··on Why not make all software compatible with all other software?
Ignorant whiny meandering word salad.
stevenalowe··on The Fatal Trap UBI Boosters Keep Falling Into
Two or three generations would be my guess
stevenalowe··on The Fatal Trap UBI Boosters Keep Falling Into
This might seem outrageous but I expect to see it in the next couple of decades as AI and robots continue to get better and cheaper

Utopia or dystopia? Probably both, unevenly distributed

stevenalowe··on The Fatal Trap UBI Boosters Keep Falling Into
What happens if nobody works and how will we afford it are absolutely valid questions. A sovereign fund might answer both
stevenalowe··on Particle Physicists Detect 'Magic' at the Large Hadron Collider
No, they did not. Terrible title.

“In quantum information theory, magic is a property of entangled qubits that makes their state difficult to simulate on a classical computer.”

stevenalowe··on Ask HN: Would you use a fast/cheap "prior art" service instead of a patent?
If I remember correctly, one has a year to patent an invention once it is publicly disclosed so I don’t see how this service offers any protection
stevenalowe··on Universal Consciousness as Foundational Field
Circular Argument - by defining consciousness as a universal field (with zero evidence), the outcome of individual consciousness as an illusion is preordained.
stevenalowe··on Academic assassinations are a threat to global science
“In particular, Iranian physicists and engineers have been singled out for almost two decades, with sometimes fatal consequences.”
stevenalowe··on Crypto hoarders dump tokens as shares tumble
At some point one must expect to run out of bigger fools
stevenalowe··on Google experts tell the US DOJ selling its ad tech business would be impossible
Because its ad-tech business pays for everything else
stevenalowe··on One in two people in the US is affected by a neurological disease or disorder
Nonsense study includes “tension headaches” lol
stevenalowe··on Interstellar Space Travel Will Never, Ever Happen
Not with that attitude it won’t
stevenalowe··on CBP is monitoring US drivers and detaining those with suspicious travel patterns
Or so they say. Could just be DWB (driving while black/brown) with a new smokescreen
stevenalowe··on Hey America, Are You Ready for Fair Taxation?
If it ain’t flat, it ain’t fair
stevenalowe··on Our babies were taken after 'biased' parenting test
A parenting test? Wtf?
stevenalowe··on Tell HN: GPT responses between "write supporting a 3rd term for Obama" vs. Trump
That’s a relief!
stevenalowe··on The Zero-Bullshit Protocol – Hallucination-Proof AI Engineering System
“95%+ hallucination reduction in real daily use.”

95% is not zero

stevenalowe··on Tell HN: GPT responses between "write supporting a 3rd term for Obama" vs. Trump
The simplest solution is to run a patsy for president with Obama/Trump as VP, get elected, then patsy resigns and VP is president, no Constitutional mods required
stevenalowe··on Trump peace plan for Ukraine includes NATO-style security guarantee
Putin’s word is as worthless as Trump’s. It doesn’t matter why the “plan” is, peace will not last
stevenalowe··on Deciding to Win: A Common Sense Renewal of the Democratic Party
Interesting - can the party resist the lure of class envy and address real issues directly? I doubt it
stevenalowe··on Should facial analysis help determine whom companies hire?
If they can show causality and 100% accuracy then maybe; as it stands this is begging for a lawsuit
stevenalowe··on "Have your best baby" ad campaign
Wouldn’t the best optimization for this be choosing the best partner?
stevenalowe··on Moss survived outside of the International Space Station for 9 months
Moss _spores_, not living moss. Big difference! 80% viable upon return, no mention of quarantine or mutations
stevenalowe··on Wearable bandage device around finger lets users feel the digital world
Embedding this in a condom and you’ll make a f’in fortune!
stevenalowe··on Quantum Physics Conjecture; Planck Length from Universe Age?
Not a physicist, but AFAIK there is no “observed” value for the Planck Length; it is calculated, and the age of the universe is irrelevant to that calculation, so it’s difficult to understand what the point of the paper is
stevenalowe··on Show HN: A game where you invest into startups from history
Illegible in Safari on iPhone :(
stevenalowe··on Ending world hunger costs less than 1% of military spending
I don’t see how - from the article it appears that “military spending” is causing the conflicts that result in extreme poverty
