My day job is to download random programs suggested by people I haven't met before, and post "hot takes" about them on the Internet.

Opinions are those of Gilgamech Technologies.

> accel is sloooow compared to a normal Camry

Performance has consistently increased. My 2016 will beat a 2017 Altima up a steep hill. I test drove both up a hill that's between the Toyota and Nissan dealerships. Hybrid torque is noticable.

No HUD, and sadly no self-parking. The infotainment system feels a little simple and aged, but everything works. No Android Auto or iDrive(?) but Bluetooth works well. Only adaptive cruise, no normal cruise (or I forgot where is that button), and the follow distance is on a button on the steering wheel - so you can cycle between 160 ft, 130 ft, & 100 ft whenever you want.

It's like a 2007 Lexus, with fresh batteries and engine. The dash has 2 actual dials, and a programmable phone-sized screen. Climate controls are just 2 dials and a few buttons. The steering wheel is almost a video game controller - it has 2 D-pads and other buttons to control most things - audio controls, phone controls, menus, adaptive cruise, etc. And most of these have another control that the passenger can use too.

Grabbing the door handle, with the key in your pocket, unlocks the door - every Tesla is more complicated to enter.

Last weekend, I took an assembled office chair to my parents in the back seat of my Camry Hybrid. If you put the fridge in the back seat, it would probably fit.

And I used to haul my 46" HDTV in my 99 Sentra, pretty sure it will fit in Camry too.

Camry is big for city driving. Moving to Seattle again reminds me how much better a Yaris can parallel park than my 'boat'.

I'm consistently driving 1100 miles a month on 28 gallons. This may change after the upcoming move, since walking will replace driving as primary transportation.

Really this is like the start of digital cameras. Computer companies made the first digital cameras, then eventually camera companies made good digital cameras.

Can we stop calling the Tesla driver assistance package by its inaccurate brand name? It is harmful.

Much like the 1970s gas crunch, when American car makers couldn't innovate small cars fast enough, and bought Japanese car companies to bridge the gap.

Like everything on the resume, the point of certificates is to get a first interview. And some people use them to convince others to take them seriously in their daily lives.

Back in my day, Walmart was the great evil retailer, threatening to put everyone out of business. Many towns had their retail core destroyed by having a Walmart open, defeat all the small businesses, then close.

Are we supposed to penalize Amazon for foresight?

Or a car from the distant past. Trends repeat. It's like how push-button transmissions are coming back into style, or how hybrid cars were invented in the 1920s and again in the 1960s.

356 ft-lb of torque. And the same MPG (50+) in the 2018+ models.

You might not beat a Porsche Cayenne, but you'll give it a hard time.

Taking the light rail from Renton to Seattle costs twice as much (or more) than gasoline to drive there. And takes 3 times as long. Not including parking.

And the train doesn't run on Saturday nights, so if you want a fun night in the city, you're driving anyway.

A turbocharger is a funny shaped air compressor. So let's put an air compressor in the trunk and pipe the air to the intake manifold. And if there car is a hybrid, that battery can power the compressor too.

My 2016 Camry Hybrid consistently gets 39mpg. There are all kinds of situations where you don't need an engine, and it shuts off completely - like coasting downhill, on a ramp from one freeway to another, at 42 mph. Engine shuts off, and regenerative braking slows the car as much as everyone else is braking.

Unlike Tesla, the dealer performs the maintenance for other cars. Or maybe a 3rd party shop. Do they have a kickback agreement with the manufacturer?

How much does Tesla pre-compensate for the maintenance they won't authorize others to do?

People love to cherry pick a statistic from one European city, and ask why all of the American empire can't be like that.

A Toyota Camry Hybrid will get better MPG with a 2.5 liter engine, and give more space for passengers and cargo, than the Yaris. Also it has EV-like torque.

This is how grocery unions (like UFCW) operate. There isn't a lot of debate about health and safety, mostly thanks to government agencies. Most of what the union does is operate the health insurer, and push for pay raises & fewer pay scale steps.
stephengillie··on New autonomous farm wants to produce food without human workers
> most Americans don't want to do back-breaking manual labor for a living, and b) most Americans also want food to be cheap.

Combine these and you're right. Most Americans don't want to do back-breaking labor for a pittance. Grocery checkers (union) make $18.50/hour. Bus drivers (union) make $29/hour. Journeyman (union) electricians make $50/hour.

Try paying more than $15/hour for farm labor and you'll have more applicants than you know what to do with.

Automakers use each others parts all the time. Dodge used Mitsubishi engines in the K cars and early minivans. Rolls Royce use Mercedes engines today. Nissan used Toyota's hybrid transmission in early-2010s Altimas.

This is a good sign for Criuse being a competitor in the self-driving space, and a sign of self-driving market health in general. Much better than Toyota investing $500 billion in Uber for self driving.[∆]

This is how hybrids work at low speeds. They use 2 motor/generators - 1 to push the wheels, and the other to refill the batteries.

Most hybrids use a slightly different engine, which is more efficient but generates less force. The hybrid transmission can add torque when accelerating or going uphill.

The engine must get less wear. My Camry Hybrid only needs an oil change every edit: 10,000 miles.
