Does economic theory even account for this concept of holding out? It's like those supply and demand graphs assume a good or service is automatically living and moving in a market
I am not going to disagree with any of this, really appreciate this angle. I'll add that from Stratechery type concepts, Warren Buffet wisdom and the like, companies need a moat and in these platform providers its all about the walled garden. If the metaverse were to be the next big thing for sure, you'd want to be the one to capture it. I wonder if FB consulted with the Big 4 or BCG ilk to have the greenlight to go down this road, I'd find it humorous.
Hmmm, so could they require that all handlers turn off the functionality on their phones that enables this concept to work? Thereby reducing the pings or hits all together?
If we could produce some kind of internal memo or training guide that proved this, would that be enough to result in some consequences in a court of law?
Sometime in the 70s there was a reduction of federal funding and thus an expectation that the state could shoulder the costs of infrastructure. Combined with white flight that took potential tax base elsewhere, it became very difficult to support maintenance at this level.

So either we preference your 150000 euros (and of course interest and margin on top) or someone having a roof over their head, running water, and even the ability to stay in the same are and building community instead of moving each year due to capital seeking max gains.
Exactly. There should be a tax on vacancy. We've made the 1) mistake of turning a very special need like shelter into a commodity or security vehicle, and 2) this commodity the owner can "hold-out" on in that makes it violate the principles of economics that we all supposedly agreed upon from above that the market is the most fair and best solution for people.
Do they spin at a high enough rate for that? If not, you could have some kind of person or service that records elapsed footage and speeds it up, although I don't know how that itself could become a viable service.
This is a question of pure ignorance at this layer, but is or why isn't there a standard for drivers that can follow a similar way of building an interface? Or maybe its not even possible due to entirely different purposes of the device.
Sounds like those points are all ripe opportunities for startups of their own no? Just a matter of identifying market gaps, I'm sure that's why US companies have hired so many Indians, just simple filling of needs and not some other mechanic as to way the world works.
I think you can argue migration (forced) through history is tied to this. The US was a recent star in growth due to free land. But there is no more free land. And Mars does not fill that role. We need to disempower rentiers.
Yes but they ultimately live materially better lives because of their position, so you can't hand wave away criticism of the value or lack thereof their actions take, especially when those actions can have a negative effect on those below them and even to the external environment.
Whats the secret sauce here to Fast or Bolt or whatever? 1000 integrations, a plugin for WooCommerce or Shopify that points at your profile that has loaded your Paypal or Visa or merchant processor(another set of integrations)?
It's obvious that they're making a point that there is never going to be an ideal realized... and so to speak otherwise is playing a part, and naturally would be called out.
