spxneo··on Launch HN: Nango (YC W23) – Source-available unified API
Doesn't that already exist? I'm also not sure what the edge/value proposition is.

If I need API integration done, there are already MIT licensed programmatic solutions that I can self host on AWS

spxneo··on Launch HN: Nango (YC W23) – Source-available unified API
I don't think parent is being unreasonable if my perception of Gorilla is correct here but

Lot of mission critical apps cannot risk even 0.01% chance of hallucination or some blackbox process

Like I don't think a direct LLM-2-API is feasible for even enterprise clients unless LLM generates that 2-API code layer that can be audited but right away that negates the need for Gorilla

Seems like "just trust this blackbox because everybody is writing wrappers around it" is similar to "throwing redux because facebook said so" 7 years ago. Definitely seeing some parallels with technological pollyannaism with blockchain.

im also not clear/sold on the value proposition or perhaps im misunderstanding things but

How does Nango differ from existing solutions? Seems like everybody is working on on programmatic "Zapier" (if thats what this is?) with OpenAI wrapper thrown over it.

spxneo··on McKinsey Under Criminal Investigation over Opioid-Related Consulting
Not only this opiod thing but this McKinsey outfit has singlehandedly responsible for Canada's recent immigration policy which many regard as failure with a strangely generous contract awarded by Trudeau

It's rather bizarre to hand off key policies such as immigration to a foreign consulting company, one which is controversial enough.

spxneo··on Ask HN: Do you use ChatGPT to generate code? What were your experiences?
interesting...i did not experience much hallucinations for my use case and also I was building on top of an existing library could be why i had a better time.

im just sitting back here shocked that i can produce a complete iOS app (albeit very basic) without studying Swift

spxneo··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
Another reason could be: many are not sympathetic to the America's claims that these foreign platforms are at the whims of a country it is at odds with and which have repeatedly demonstrated covert abilities to change American's perception.

Speaking with some younger American co-workers in the past, their suspicion/hatred of their own country is astounding to see and it seems to have coincidentally begun after TikTok entered US market a few months before US elections.

So the worry seems to be that young American voters exposed to a foreign social platform will influence upcoming elections. I do not think this is far fetched as multiple countries have come out to expose various tactics by certain countries to influence perception.

spxneo··on Meta stock has lost $137B in market cap on weak Q2 revenue guidance
Last year in november, this was worth $90, now its $430 (was $490 before ER)

wth happened? what do people believe that Meta is doing that made it jump 5x and now seems to say its only wroth 4x where it was at its yearly lows?

spxneo··on IBM to buy HashiCorp in $6.4B deal
so what are the alternatives now? preferably MIT licensed on github
spxneo··on N. Korean hackers breached 10 defense contractors in South for months
another quality insider info, greatly appreciated alephnerd!
spxneo··on N. Korean hackers breached 10 defense contractors in South for months
despite being allies, big reason why Americans do not trust or share sensitive information with South Korea-whatever they share always ends up in North Korea and China

but perhaps the biggest enablers of these security lapses aren't just the shoddy cybersecurity management but the political environment

anytime you try to fix or address an issue, the opposition party will take contrarian stance without merit.

no political party in america will disagree with the events of 9/11 yet in south korea disagreeing/contrarian stance is the default because they have premature understanding of what democracy is (ex. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROKS_Cheonan_sinking - imagine if a major American political party started refuting the events of 9/11 and defending Al Qaeda!)

so its no wonder that stuff like this will result in no arrests and waste valuable tax dollars.

spxneo··on Ask HN: How to improve PCB prototyping iteration time?
do you have any recommendations on learning material or youtube channels to get started? its fascinating that you can "program" circuits with logic gates and "import libraries" by simply looking for parts
spxneo··on Work begins on a $12B high-speed rail line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles
why doesn't anybody else build this? north america in comparison is stuck in the 19th century when it comes to rail transportation. its bizarre.
spxneo··on BeeBase, a programmable relational database with graphical user interface
im actually not sure whats going on here in the comments

it feels like the same person is posting under different nicks

for what purpose I do not know.

spxneo··on BeeBase, a programmable relational database with graphical user interface
guess I missed it, im used to scrolling and seeing screenshots and features on splash page. I must admit I wasn't very interested in this piece of software to begin with.
spxneo··on BeeBase, a programmable relational database with graphical user interface
not sure if you are trolling or serious here but thats a bad user experience and also very condescending
spxneo··on BeeBase, a programmable relational database with graphical user interface
I just shared my opinion, we disagree. I'm okay with this.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

spxneo··on Work begins on a $12B high-speed rail line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles
comparing China's high speed transportation is a low bar. they absolutely do not give a crap about derailment, in fact they straight up buried it, literally

instead you should see Japan's shinkansen as a measure of standards. They built that in the sixties

spxneo··on Show HN: Use LLMs to Interact with APIs
cool but i dont think anybody on the enterprise is going to use this right now

LLM-to-automation-api seems really great on paper but the statistics are simply against any sort of wide adoption

at least that is the general consensus speaking to clients

spxneo··on Ask HN: How to improve PCB prototyping iteration time?
i see seems like thats the general view with LLMs with anything 3d or spatial

I just want an easy way to get into PCB design but there is just so much learning curve

spxneo··on Show HN: Balancing game for the mobile browser with increasing difficulty
got to level 8 and gave up but this was very fun could be better with changing camera angles
spxneo··on GPU compute in the browser at the speed of native: WebGPU marching cubes
this is what I want to know but someone said it was not suitable for running GPU powered games on here i will see if i can dig up the thread
spxneo··on Ask HN: How to improve PCB prototyping iteration time?
thank you! this is exactly what i was looking for
spxneo··on GPU compute in the browser at the speed of native: WebGPU marching cubes
but somebody told me a while back on here that WebGPU was outdated? whats the consensus ?
spxneo··on Ask HN: How to improve PCB prototyping iteration time?
side question: is there a LLM that can create PCBs from text?
spxneo··on Py2wasm – A Python to WASM Compiler
so does this mean we can run FastAPI inside a browser?
spxneo··on Meta Horizon OS
feels like US tech companies are running on fumes

just as the AI bubble starts to fizzle its one last push at AR

spxneo··on Stop Doing Cloud
i think you should read the article again because thats exactly what i mean. people saying you are wrong without really offering rebuttal.
spxneo··on Tell HN: Ever think of applying to YC? Do it this weekend for S24
You are not reading what I wrote and instead replying to continue pushing that false narrative we've established here to be untrue: that most in YC aren't from an unknown university.

Your insistence only confirms the rumours, does not dispel it.

spxneo··on Tell HN: Ever think of applying to YC? Do it this weekend for S24
great. now lets ask the other 97% in YC what school they dropped out/graduated from.
spxneo··on Tell HN: Ever think of applying to YC? Do it this weekend for S24
you are an outlier and the stuff you wrote is marketing fluff
