Reminds me of this: https://vimeo.com/44078865
It's mind boggling how apt humans are to what should be impossible.
When I first saw it, I couldn't believe it was real. I had always thought this kind of site could be something China is heading towards but not a point they are at right now. It also looks like something that could be taken straight out of Black Mirror episode.
Whenever I read a book thread on HN I end up adding most of the books to my reading list on goodreads. But a year later, I don't remember why I've added the book and all I have to go on is the Goodreads rating and goodreads comments.
These aren't that bad, but if the book has been on a HN book thread, I would much rather see a one sentence comment from HN that reads: "I loved this book, you should read it right now." Instead of any other comments from normal Goodreads users.
How else is it possible to even begin parsing a thread like this? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17980964
What I have started using which is better than the default evernote quick note interface is the IFTTT note to evernote shortcut. Its way faster than evernote but it doesn't support tagging so if it could do that it would be pretty much perfect for me, I think.
If you have the jdk installed (https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk...) you can simply run:
$ appletviewer http://chir.ag/stuff/sand/I was playing Sandspiel and it was bringing back vaguely positive memories of a similar game but I couldn't remember what it was or when I played it, then I saw your comment, opened falling sand game and instantly remembered the game. I must have spent so much time playing this when I was younger, it's great to have a working version again.
The funny part is, when you first open the app after install, to stop root/rom users using some features, they just write a boolean to Android's shared preferences `USER_HAS_ROOT` or something. So _if_ you do have root you can just use a file explorer, or adb or something else go to the shared prefs file, change the value to false and when you relaunch the app, as long as magisk is installed, it works fine.
But no, my app doesn't like Los, and I think I even had to uninstall the inbuilt su of the ROM.
I also find it so strange that Twitter hasn't done anything to specifically limit these accounts. They could even naively block normal users from having a verified user's profile picture and this problem would virtually not exist.
It seems to me that message notifications, at least, do keep me from checking my phone.
