sonnyp··on Mozilla Webrender: rendering any webpage at several hundred FPS
This is awesome and incredibly useful.

Bravo

Let's see if I can get even more excited, Would it be possible to render SVG in the same fashion ? I guess SVG can be considered a scene graph as well, maybe even more than CSS is.

sonnyp··on Enable Node.js to Run with Microsoft's ChakraCore Engine
How so? I just loaded es6 kangax table in Canary "Version 49.0.2566.0 canary (64-bit)" and it reports 62% for current browser.

EDIT: 92% reported for "Version 50.0.2626.0 canary (64-bit)"

nice job!

Don't forget servo. Even if it's not official yet, Servo is the way to go for Firefox. Implementing XUL in servo would be a huge mistake.

sonnyp··on Germany guarantees a right by law to use the router you want, regardless of ISP [pdf]
> ISPs regularly send customers routers with known security flaws, already-exposed backdoors that hackers can break into and use laughably weak WiFi security by default (if any at all).

In Belgium, one of the big ISP (can't remember which one) delivered router with open wifi ...

In Spain my ISP only uses the router mac address to 'verify' the equipment.

sonnyp··on Open Letter to Microsoft’s CEO: Don’t Roll Back the Clock on Choice and Control
"we've got instead IndexedDB over WebSQL (which many devs choose to wrap)"

It doesn't matter how developers choose to use IndexedDB, what does is for a Web standard to be sane and WebSQL never was. See https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9978713

"asm.js over NaCl (which v8 team as shown doesn't require a special compiler mode to optimize for)"

I don't see how not requiring a special compiler is an argument against it.

"ES5/ES5.1/ES6/ES7 language bloat over Your-Choice-Of-JS-Successor language or actually fixing the issues with JS"

ES5/ES5.1/ES6/ES7 ARE efforts to fix issues with JS and mostly driven by Mozilla.

sonnyp··on Open Letter to Microsoft’s CEO: Don’t Roll Back the Clock on Choice and Control
About WebSQL Firefox already had (and still has) Sqlite dependency (it is uses for bookmarks, history, ...) it is not the issue. The problem is that the Web SQL standard states "User agents must implement the SQL dialect supported by Sqlite 3.6.19." [0] which made agents rely on a outdated dependency and non standard (sqlite is not SQL ansible compatible) SQL. A nightmare for Web standards. They made the right (and hard) choice.

NaCl isn't portable (Mozilla is working on Web Assembly)

Dart excerpt taken from Dart FAQ; question: "Will the Dart VM get into Chrome?" response: "No. Dart is designed to compile to JavaScript to run across the modern web, and the dart2js compiler is a top priority for the team." [1]

true but if Malware.exe ships with an addon, it could tweak Firefox user profile to allow the addon install
