solids··on TypeScript is now officially 10 years old
Incremental adoption and syntax close to JS
solids··on Tell HN: Locked out of Gmail account even after right password, recovery email
Yes, but then you just take your domain and go somewhere else.
solids··on Private Jets to Ibiza, Paris Surge as Rich Evade Travel Chaos
The buy sea front properties because they can, they have so much money that doesn’t matter what happens with sea level in ten years, they just want to enjoy those houses today.
solids··on Scientists have finally found the potential “cure” for baldness
All I can say is your relation looks very superficial that I'm not sure why are you married in the first place. What happens if either of you for some reason (like an accident) suffer physiological changes that "you don't find attractive"? Are you going to pack and leave? So sad.
solids··on Increased Subscription Pricing for IDEs, .NET Tools, and the All Products Pack
IMHO enforced price controls leads to shortages (and I experienced them first hand, I was born in Argentina)

Also using an example from 70 years ago doesn’t seem enough to justify it.

solids··on Inclusive Coding Bot on GitHub
The real question is, "is it good"? I don't like to merge PR's just because.
solids··on Crash: China Eastern B738 near Guangzhou on Mar 21st 2022
There’s no indicator at all that this plane suffered a technical failure.
solids··on In Argentina, inflation is a way of life
Buenos Aires is the best place in the world to miss when you want to feel nostalgic. (Argentinian, moved to Valencia 1 year ago)
solids··on “The Matrix Resurrections” is an excellent movie
The change of hues in the trailer was enough for making me skip the movie.
solids··on The Math of the Sandpile
Nor even spread to a neighbor of the same height, but that’s ok, is just an idea.
solids··on Masked email from Fastmail and 1Password
I do exactly the same, what is the advantage of masked emails over this pattern?
solids··on JSON Schema bundling formalised
I agree with you, I didn’t expect the amount of negative comments. Used in the past and it was a great tool to “avoid representing invalid states” and also as documentation to share between teams.
solids··on On Apple’s “Expanded Protections for Children” – A Personal Story
But this will be triggered only while uploading to iCloud, so if you are not using iCloud for photos the algorithm will never run? Or that’s why I understood.
solids··on The work-from-home future is destroying bosses' brains
When the pandemic started, I was working as a manager. It was my 6th year in that company. I thought, working remote is the best that ever happened to me.

Now I changed my job three months ago and remote work is killing me.

I realized that managing remotely it’s easy if you already have build strong relationships while in the office. You know how to approach each team member, who you can trust. It also takes much more time for people to trust you.

solids··on Why Russians do not smile (2002)
Leaving aside cultural differences, isn't it a fact that smiles (genuine smiles) have health benefits?
solids··on For soccer players, the less brain they use, the better for penalty kicks
This kind of experiments always make me think why we experience consciousness, and where is the evolutionary advantage of having it at all.
solids··on Argentine version of Google falls into “wrong” hands
Nobody knows what happened. Last night someone posted on twitter that google.com.ar was not working, then another one posted a screenshot from the Argentinean domain provider highlighting that the domain was registered by a random guy. Few hours later google.com.ar started working again, probably a single phone call from Google resolved the issue.
solids··on Pfizer 91% effective in updated data, protective against South African variant
Argentina, Pfizer
solids··on How to implement a hash table in C
The problem with your way of thinking, is who draws the line to define what's "half-assed"? Because everything can be improved. You should take ideas from this kind of articles, not fully working code.
solids··on Pollution from fossil fuel combustion deadlier than previously thought
I don’t know where you live, but for instance in Argentina this conversation never happens because the union of truck drivers is so big that they stop every single attempt to increase trains.
solids··on Why does an A note sound different across instruments?
Also a very important fact, is that the stronger overtones are the unison (octave), and the 5th.
solids··on Ask HN: Any luck negotiating better terms for on-call?
I think disruption of sleep is so detrimental to health that each call should be compensated with one day off (if you are not getting paid for it)
solids··on Biomarker of Alzheimer's found to be regulated by sleep cycles
The problem is not listening to our body requests. If you are tired, you should you sleep, and then avoid alarms to wake up.
solids··on Google outage – resolved
Well, it's something that can happen to anyone, take it easy. When I made the transition from developer to manager and become responsible for this situations, at first every problem made me feel as you describe. Eventually what helped me to be free is the understanding that how we feel about a fact does not change anything about that fact.
solids··on Diego Maradona has died
Similar to playstation goals you mean?

solids··on American Airlines Is Quietly Bringing Back the 737Max
You need to exclude from that list accidents like GOL 1907, that had nothing to do with the aircraft.
solids··on The Elusive Peril of Space Junk
Sometimes I feel HN should have two separate comment sections. One to discuss the content of the article, and one to discuss everything else.
solids··on Non-obvious remote work techniques
#5 - IMHO you just can’t emulate a physical social event, the biggest problem being that you cannot establish smaller groups which are natural in physical events.
solids··on The Guns of Bitcoin (2017)
You can use something like https://getpocket.com/
