Totally fair objection, but I believe the author made that decision primarily because skhd can do arbitrary keybindings. I have skhd set up to open up iTerm by pressing cmd-RET for example.

If you haven't seen it before, you might be interested in something like chunkwm[1], a tiling window manager for MacOS. I've been using it for a couple of years now and its been fantastic and works almost exactly like a linux-based tiling wm.

Regarding your second point, that is only good for the consumer in the short term. In the long term it harms consumer choice by making it untenable for smaller companies to sell on Amazon when they know a cheaper AmazonBasics version will be released as soon as they see any success.

It depends on how long ago you last tried to make a React app. If it was recently, I'm quite surprised you didn't find it as it's heavily mentioned on the official React site, but if was say earlier than a couple years ago, that would be understandable.
