slitaz··on The Case for Ubuntu Phone
With the present phones, Canonical provides all the packages and the full ROM files. There is no feature yet for phones that cannot be rooted so I do not see such risk.

There is a feature for Snapdragon SoCs that can enable dual-boot. For others, it is still difficult or impossible.

You can get the tablet bq M10 now. Or you can preorder the Fair phone 2, the version with Ubuntu preinstalled.

With the new Android versions, it is far more difficult to get tools like xposed to reclaim some of the privacy and control back. Having a usable alternative is essential.
slitaz··on Why I switched from OS X to Linux
You do not get the full Linux, just the Ubuntu user-space packages.

But once you need something advanced, you can install Ubuntu as dual-boot and you will be at home.

slitaz··on Why I switched from OS X to Linux
Indeed. But mainstream distros won't let you go there, so it's not an issue anymore.

Also your comments on Ubuntu looked too emotional.

There are Linux users that love to hate something, but we those at a distance.

The game situation is changing fast. Even CivIV was just announced that it is coming to Linux.

Perhaps the Vulkan drivers will make it even better to write crossplatform games.

The LTS releases get a kernel upgrade and graphics libraries every six months or so. So, you get newer hardware support even if you stay at 16.04.

There is a new such update for 16.04 at the end of this month. It is the 16.04.02 update.

I used to do just that. But the installation ended carrying many skeletons and cruft. Now I reinstall Ubuntu LTS every two years and clean up my desktop. If there is a worthy configuration, I carry it over to the new installation.

slitaz··on To reset the conversation about race, college course starts with a DNA test
This is smart. From a scientific viewpoint, there shouldn't be such a need of DNA test.

The novelty of a DNA test helps to adjust those that culture has put them strong beliefs regarding race.

slitaz··on Critiques of the DHS and FBI’s Grizzly Steppe Report
So it was just spearfishing, the poor man's hacking technique.

The techniques that NSA and MI6 use are far more advanced. Taking advantage of the networking equipment and injecting traffic.

slitaz··on GRIZZLY STEPPE – Russian Malicious Cyber Activity [pdf]
tl;dr: they just used spearfishing, a poor man's facility to get someone to click on a link in a fake email you sent them.

This is quite low-tech.

Pretty please a summary? I am on mobile.
slitaz··on How to Tell Who's Lying to You: Climate Science Edition
If you take a step back and see the motivations of each side, you realise that one side is supported by an industry group with the aim to create doubt in the science of climate change.

Other industry groups have perpetuated similar lies. The tobacco industry that smoking may not cause cancer, the sugar industry that fat causes obesity and not sugar.
