slimshady94··on Modern Media Is a DoS Attack on Free Will
Would a technical solution (web decentralization) really be necessary if a political solution (adequate regulations) was available for these issues?
slimshady94··on Paradise Papers: Dear Tim Cook
Wouldn't that increase the number of highly skilled individuals working in Sweden, who pay more tax/increase the jobs available? Which is a good thing?
slimshady94··on Parity Wallet security alert
This comment after the previous hack is pretty detailed https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14691212

Isn't it possible to generate a new token that has the same amount of ether lost, and airdrop it to those addresses? That token can be assumed to replace ETH (call it ETH1), and should have the same dollar value in trading markets.
slimshady94··on Ask HN: Is a cryptocurrency for funding community projects a viable idea?
I wonder if crypto-tokens could be used as an easy way of quantifying open source contributions? Famous GitHub projects could assign and pay their own custom tokens (not exchangeable for money, permanently tied to an identity), on the basis of issues and PRs. It would also be easy for developers to link these tokens on their resume while applying for jobs. The proof-of-PR token could even be used to skip interviews altogether.

All these ideas seem pretty low-hanging fruit for cryptocurrencies.

slimshady94··on The Disappearing American Grad Student
For foreign citizens, option 2 is pretty much a no-brainer because a US green card implies societal respect, relatively high income and subsequently marriage proposals from their home country.
slimshady94··on Twitter employee deactivates Trump account
0.002 BTC from me
slimshady94··on Ask HN: Distributed programming (computing) jobs?
Databrix develops Apache Spark. I've heard it's hard to get into though.
slimshady94··on The Trouble with High IQ
Speaking for myself, I would feel pretty dumb if I got angry due to echo chamber comments on online articles. Why would you cause stress to yourself after reading vapid comments, when it's not mandatory to scroll to the bottom of the article/fb post and read them?
slimshady94··on We Can’t Stem the Tide of Language Death
Your grandchildren will be able to see minute details of your life, using social media archival tools. They may be able to read all your HN and reddit comments. Would they be interested in that? Who knows. But things are about to change nevertheless.
slimshady94··on Robert Scoble and Me
Maybe it depends on the company you keep. Perhaps all the parties you go to are populated by educated men with high morals. Maybe you don't have any sleazebag friends or co-workers, which is a good thing.
slimshady94··on First detection of the missing half of normal matter in our universe
Tendrils between galaxies is mind-blowing. Aren't galaxies very very far apart? And there is basically nothing in between? How are subatomic particles - baryons - able to survive the constant expansion? Do the tendrils keep getting thinner? Can they be a medium to transmit intergalactic information someday?
slimshady94··on Microsoft gives up on Windows 10 Mobile
I was a student who had won a Lumia 800 around May of 2012. There was a promotion where anyone who submitted 4 apps to the appstore would get a phone - no 'win' involved, a guaranteed phone. It was one of the best promotions I'd ever seen, and I promptly churned out 4 soundboard apps in a week.
slimshady94··on AIM will shut down after 20 years
What a golden thread. Something tells me I will be writing similar eulogies after twenty years about facebook and whatsapp.
slimshady94··on Why don't any women win Nobel science prizes?
This is a symptom that has to be fixed at the source. Minority prize winners would emerge on their own, if the academic and scientific community fix the funnel for women. Giving awards on quotas would be like giving treadmills to paraplegics.
slimshady94··on Ask HN: What horrible things do you do in your own code when no one is watching?
The ever-present possibilty of open-sourcing on github and getting code-reviewed by future employers hangs over my head like the sword of Damocles.
slimshady94··on VCs are suing the US for delay of immigration program
America is the best place for VC money. For now atleast, in 20 years, who knows? Singapore or Canada or Berlin may become the next hotspot.
slimshady94··on SpaceX BFR [video]
I had a vision of it diving inside the water and becoming some superfast submarine, perhaps cutting through the earth's crust or something. Anything can happen right!
slimshady94··on Mark Zuckerberg's Political Awakening
I for one would welcome the scenario that someone who is smart, ambitious and genuinely concerned about poverty becomes president of the USA. He embodies the things I aspire to - entrepreneurial drive, smarts and philanthropy.
slimshady94··on Ask HN: What is your mission in life?
A rough guideline for me is to help advance humanity on its path of technical progress (because the life I love is because of technological progress); to help those living in poverty around the world (because after I die, chances of me being born into a poor third-world country are too high); and to reduce the threat of global warming (because after I die, I want to be born again and not be un-existent in a timeless void because our planet is trashed).

My reasons are selfish unfortunately. I'm also not extremely motivated to make a personal impact on my own, so I aim to earn a high salary so I can donate to people who know what they're doing.

slimshady94··on The bad new politics of big tech
This is where the blockchain - a decentralized trustless database - comes in. The new Facebook will be an open protocol no one controls and everyone benefits from.
