skuthus··on Nintendo has reportedly suffered a significant legacy console leak
I definitely don't blame Nintendo for using this strategy - I do however find it frustrating how unintuitive finding the games feels. Want to play Earthbound? Get a SNES classic. Want to play LOZ:Link to the Past? You can do it on the switch. Want to play Mario 2? Too bad. Its japan only. Etc.
skuthus··on Surface Go 2, Surface Book 3, Surface Headphones 2 and Surface Earbuds
I hope they continue to make those changes. To your first point, I find it ridiculous when companies make devices with very little ability to repair.

Got it. Thanks for the clarification
skuthus··on Surface Go 2, Surface Book 3, Surface Headphones 2 and Surface Earbuds
This is only partially true now. The surface laptop line has made huge strides in repair-ability. https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/23/20929530/microsoft-surfa...

That being said, the surface pro, go, and book lines have yet to attain the same level of repair-ability.

If you don't look at the source code, how do you know they are re-engineering the source code?
skuthus··on Nintendo has reportedly suffered a significant legacy console leak
To the OP's point, You can play some games with virtual console, but many games were released on only one or two newer consoles so you would effectively need to spend hundreds and sometimes thousands in order to actually play them all legally.
skuthus··on Hideo Kojima’s Video-Game Worlds
If anyone is interested in checking out a compelling Kojima Title from the Gameboy Advance Era, look no further than Boktai https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boktai:_The_Sun_Is_in_Your_Han...

The game uses a solar senor on the cartridge to charge your weapons and abilities. Very innovative

I think if you disagree with what they have done, you should express that fully and also stop using the platform in favor of others who share your views.

It was retweeted by Elon Musk like a day ago

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It's pretty cut and dry that it's exclusive to government

skuthus··on YouTube removed a viral video of two doctors calling for an end to quarantine
According to the current interpretation of the Civil Rights Act, you would not be able to prevent them from shopping
skuthus··on YouTube removed a viral video of two doctors calling for an end to quarantine
>without interference from the government.

Exactly. Youtube isn't the government.

skuthus··on YouTube removed a viral video of two doctors calling for an end to quarantine
You are welcome to find the video on other platforms

It's more like 'I have the right to choose which voices get heard on my private platform'

>The default state is a very limited platform (those immediately around you at any given time perhaps), but when you explicitly provide a platform for the public to use and then censor voices because you don't like what they have to say you're violating free speech principles.

If the You I highlighted was the state, you would be correct. But it isnt.

Thanks, Dang. Got a little heated there.
skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
That's why your comment was flagged, but my follow up comment with six real sources wasn't. Right. I am the naive one. This is no longer contributing to the conversation at hand.
skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
. I didn't mention anti-vax sentiment as the reason they should be ashamed, I was referring to the suggestion that ID2020 is in any way applicable to the current COVID crisis. It isnt.

2. I have no affiliation with Microsoft, and neither does Bill Gates, any longer.

skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
Ok, I confess.

I have a really obvious bias: objective reality.

skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
What statement am I being asked to consider as true? That this man hates bill gates?
skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
... What does this have to do with Bill Gates and why that guy hates him?
skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
The technology is not currently being implemented in the manufacturing process for any vaccine currently being made. To suggest otherwise is disingenuous. As an example of the damage that suggestion does, look no further than the other comments under your post - This is fuel for the fire if you're part of the anti-vax crowd.

I also want to point out that blockchain identification is inherent in the design of ID2020, so even if it was implemented, it would not give a central database a way to track everyone, only a way to look up an individuals vaccine history at the time of scan, similar to how Google and Microsoft's data sharing for COVID is operating.

skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
I am confused - Before we were talking about ID2020, now suddenly it is about vaccines? And from a 12-day old account, no less.

A quick look at your comment history tells me you are only here to bridage the site with anti-vaxx messaging.

skuthus··on Gates Foundation will commit 'total attention' to coronavirus pandemic
I am shocked an appalled to see that there is an anti-vaxx undertone present on HN.

A simple google search reveals that this information is false.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bill-gates-id2020/

Please, @csense - this is only a digital certificate, one which is clearly designed not to actively track someone, but to provide much needed medical info in 3rd world countries who don't have the infrastructure to store vaccination records across borders.

Personally, I think you should be ashamed of making such a disingenuous connection.

I cannot imagine seeing someone be so unilaterally altruistic and still hating them. Why do you feel they are deserving of your hate?
skuthus··on Ask HN: What is your blog and why should I read it?

I just started out, but It's a hodgepodge of reviews, thoughts on macroeconomics and politics, as well as tech and ideas ive had over the last decade.

Check it out if you are interested in macroeconomic thoughts as well as quick blurbs about tech

skuthus··on “Just walk out” technology by Amazon
I really don't think there is. I think this is going to be more like the loyalty cards - at first people oppose it on principle, but it becomes so commonplace that opposing it seems absurd
skuthus··on Elon Musk’s plan to build one Starship a week and settle Mars
IIRC, it's to create a commercial launch platform and also passenger rockets for quick point-to-point travel. Basically a really big and fast 747
skuthus··on Ask HN: How to Take Good Notes?
I switched from note-taking to taskmaking. I have been using Todoist for about 6 months now with a huge boost to my productivity. It allows me a place to both keep light notes and force myself to confront tasks that I have been putting off. It also integrated with my google calendar.
